Oil Painting Surfaces Pro Tips, Part 3: How to Make a Linen Canvas Using Raw Linen. In this video Anna Rose Bain shows you three different ways to stretch, size, and prime your own linen canvases for oil painting.
Disclaimer: I'm showing you the methods I learned from my classically trained college professors and several other artists I studied with over the years. I don't claim to have the perfect process or solutions here, so I highly recommend you continue to do some research for yourself to find out the best ways to prepare canvases. I've discovered that there is a lot of disagreement about what is the "best" method to make archival painting surfaces. If you disagree with my process, please keep your comments respectful. Thank you in advance!
