This is a quick introductory video in to the art of soft lure pouring and making your own soft plastic fishing lures. Mark Kelly of Lure Factors quickly shows us how to make simple soft lures using products from his online shop. If you wish to see any more videos on soft lure pouring, making moulds, injection moulds, multi colour lures and much much more then leave a note in the comments and Mark and myself will get together and do more.
If you need to find any of the products in this video just get in touch with Mark Kelly at lurefactors.co.uk

What a great Yorkshire lad Mark is, hope he's invited to the Lure bash.

He's ace is Mark, proper down to earth Yorkie. Came to my last lure bash when we did it for charity, chucked loads of lures in gave kids loads of stuff and he also did a lure pouring demo to show people. This time he's just coming to fish but he'll get in among the other anglers. So if you see him have a chat with him and he'll show you some of the lures you can create yourself.

Nice one pal good to know it is useful. I started with just a simple shad mould and every now and again I spend an hour making a few. Means you can have loads in your bag/box and don't worry about losing them as much as other lures.

Lure making is a multi million dollar business here in the states. It's nice to be able to do your own colors or mix colors. The one local shop to me here makes a lot of his own soft plastics some common colors others off the wall. With the pike you can really go through a lot of plastics.

I can imagine it is mate. Great to be able to make your own and in the colours you like. A few years ago, white kopyto shads always seemed to be sold out so now I make my own.

There is nowt like the smell of soft plastics early in morning, or in the afternoon. nice one

Or if its at my house its the smell of burnt soft plastic. Though yesterday It helped me create a new colour which I call tomato sauce. Problem is i tried to replicate it, burning more soft plastic and they now look like little turd shads. Nice

super video thanks Paul .. meks it look dead easy. I'm fairly new to lure fishing , getting into soft lure fishing , with limited success so far . the waters I fishing up here in swaledale and wensyldale , breed a variety of dark northern minnow baitfish that I'm having trouble matching in a commercially available pattern. Your video shows how easy it is too cast these lures. so I'm thinking of trying with a minnow shad mould and some experimenting with colours . even a newbie disabled girl like myself might manage it. cheers Paul

Hi Cassie. Yeah great that you can make them really easy and with a bit of thought and experimentation you can make your little minnows. But, remember to also have the total opposite. Something they don't normally see, bright white shad for example, will catch their attention. It'll look out of place and often thats what fish end up going for. Rather than chasing a huge ball of fish they go for the weird looking loner. That's why Ady gets a lot of attention cos hes a weird looking loner! lol ;) As for your fishing. You'll find your rivers up there will often be a bit devoid of fish in parts. Should be some trout about and then some chub too so some fish that will take a lure. Cut your bit of water in to short sections and fish each deep pool or fast run off with a variety of lures to see what is there. If nothing, move on. First time you get a fish or even a knock, try a bit harder and see if changes with lures and styles catches you more fish. As you start to work out where a few fish are, then you go back to those spots more often to see if they throw up anything else. Keep me updated how it goes. Even if you aren't catching a million fish, you are in a beautiful part of the world and that's worth a blank for me. you want to catch some fish though, so keep me updated how it goes.

Cheers lads, I used to be a modeller in the pottery industry in Stoke (when we used to have one) to I'm gonna make myself a couple of moulds and give this a go! You could suspend rattles and kind of stuff in these lures,!!! Because of the brexit and shit state of the pound, rubber shads from poland and the like will start costing more and more . Thanks chaps!

Nice one pal. Good to know it's given you some ideas. Mark makes moulds himself, you probably have an idea judging by what you are saying but if you need any help get in touch with him. He'll tell you what he has that you can use plus any tips if you need them. Good to see you already thinking about stuff. Like I said in the video, it's down to your imagination what you can do. For me it's usually white shad after white shad but the lads I know that like to be creative make some ace lures. Have a look on his website, lurefactors.co.uk and see what there is on offer it'll help get that brain ticking over. Also if you have any ideas or want to see something just let us know and we might be able to do a video. Mark is 20 mins from me and i'm always over to his for my jig heads and more so we could do a video.

Cheers Paul, Just looking at the site now, can you tell me , their are four grades of softness , which is the most similar to standard konger / relax shads I'm used to? Any idea?

The one i have is "soft" which I use for small softies. But Mark is the man to ask. You can get him on facebook too if you search Lure Factors. He'll sort you out mate

So if you wanted you can block of the tail section and make another color tail. Just heat up 2 cups, one for the body and another for the tail. How do you get the molds?
@riverpiker
@riverpiker 7 жыл бұрын
I'm not that sure how they do all the fancy stuff. To do a couple of colours you need to have two colours heated up at the same time, so two jugs is handy. If you wanted a red belly, poor a bit of red in the bottom then fill the rest with another colour. The two hot plastics then stay together better. If you wanted a solid line between a full tail i'm not sure how you would do that. Though you could tilt the mould and try to poor in just the tail part, then quickly fill the rest in, that should work. I'm sure there are some more soft plastic videos on youtube somewhere. As for the moulds, just get on the lurefactors website, Mark has loads on there.

how do you add scent to the soft plastics? Do you add it after it is finished or add it to the hot plastic?

River Piker love watching the lure videos, hopeless at it myself haha. do ok wobbling deads. my mate is mad into lures but think if got into it, it would be those bigger lures like eel and those jerk baits where you work it that would be the way i went.

I can make the softies but i'm not that good. Saves me plenty in lures though and I just make loads of 2.5inch shads for me and Ady to use. Last week we were out and Ady had the tail ripped off his last one so yesterday I knocked out another 30 lures in an hour and we're sorted again. I keep meaning to make something bigger to chuck but never get round to it
