Crafty peeps (and Sasha)! If you don't have talcum powder/don't like the smell, use cornflour instead! Most talcum powders are exactly that, plus fragrance. I made my pastes some months ago with this recipe and cornflour, and it's exactly the same 👍 Thanks Sasha for sharing!

A really easy way to remember what colours will give you poo, is if they have all 3 prime colours, you will get poo. Eg red and green, although they compliment eachother, if mixed they make brown. I just have a cheap colour wheel on my wall over my desk, just a quick reminder, as we do have our dizzy moments! Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed the video ❤️

Don’t add water, that’s what makes it go mouldy. I use corn flour and a really cheap pva glue. Tonic glue is too good for this. I bought a litre bottle of pva glue from the works for £2 that I use just for making texture paste. I also make black texture paste using black acrylic paint for mixed media work. Love the projects xx

OOOOOOO i LOVE the idea of Black! YES!!!! lets do that next! Great tips on the mould avoiding, good thing i didnt add water! Corn flour is a great tip as well! Baby powder is a bit stinky. But ive got that whole thing from when the kids were born- never used it on them, but had it just in case. Now im using it up. Thanks so much for hanging out with me tonight

Every Saturday me and my roommate start the day out by cleaning house, then the house is all spotless smelling all pretty and clean then we pull our craft tables over and we start doing cards or tonight we’re going to actually do for paper pumpkins that we’ve had sitting there that we haven’t had time to do and that is my perfect version of a Saturday evening.

The way I remember which colors make brown, are the opposite on the color wheel make muddy... Green & Red Blue & Orange Purple & Yellow The colors that will go nice together are the ones next to each other on the wheel. Blue, Purple, Red Red, Orange, Yellow Yellow, Green, Blue I would just google a color wheel and you will see and understand what I’m saying. I hope that helps

Wow really enjoyed that yr card looks amazing. I have a tip for you . I know you love getting messy but what I use is plain and simple tile grout works the same way and you can add glitter and paint to add colour. I have that stencil that you used off alinacraft so I am going to have a go and I think I have decoupage butterfly tissue paper. Always love watching yr videos.. oh by the way . Tile grout a pound for a big tub. Also I love the woodwear stamps I have a few. I'm definitely going to have a play at mixed media as never done before. Have a great day 1🌹

This is a BEAUTIFUL result, Sasha. 👏👏 At first I was horrified at so much black 😱 But in the end it's all come together wonderfully. Amazing. 😁❤ Well done!! Now, a year on, you probably know more about the colours. The 3 primary colours are blue, yellow and red. Mix those 3 --> brown....in watercolour = mud 😊 So mixing say, orange (red +yellow) and blue --> mud. The same with green (yellow and blue) and red --> mud. And purple (red + blue) with yellow --mud. That's very basic because there are so many shades and hues of the primary colours. Emma Jane Lefebvre, the watercolourist gives great advice on colour theory and the colour wheel. She's Canadian 😃 I hope you've been able to visit Canada by now? Anyway, take care. 🙋

Muddy colors are caused by adding a color that is not part of the color combo. I.e. red+blue+ yellow= brown. Red+blue = purple if you add yellow (which is not part of the combo) you will get brown (muddy colors)
@barbarahill6365
@barbarahill6365 3 жыл бұрын
Colors to get the browns you mix a primary color say red and the mix of the other 2 primary’s or green, and you will get brown. Rainbow colors ROYGBIV red, orange. Yellow green, blue indigo, violet are often used in card making videos. Personally, I like cool colors together, and warm colors together. I’ve found a color wheel really helpful. It will show you combos that work. Moldy stuff, if you do add water try distilled water since most tap water has bacteria in it.

Sasha, get a color wheel. Opposite colors are good for contrast but don't mix well. This is easy color theory. Sounds like a big deal but isn't. I love the watercolor against the paste and card. Looks wonderful. Opposite examples are red with green. Or blue with orange.
@russellmiles8783
@russellmiles8783 3 жыл бұрын
Google split primaries. Because we can't create true red, true blue or true yellow, every primary carries a hint of something else. So reds are either blueish-reds (crimson, magenta) or orange-reds (scarlet). Blues are either reddish-blues (ultramarine) or green-blues (phthalo, cerulean). Almost all yellows are orange-yellow except lemon yellow. Now the complicated bit. To mix a bright green you need a green-yellow and a green-blue. If you use an orange-yellow you start to introduce a bit of red and that dulls the green a little. Using a reddish blue does the same. To make a bright orange you need an orange-yellow and an orange-red. Using a greenish yellow adds a bit of blue or using a blueish red adds a bit of blue and that also muddies your orange. And the same for violet and purple. You need a reddish-blue and a blueish-red. Hope that helps. I love all your videos, BTW.

Get yourself a color wheel Sasha....mud is usually made when you combine colors on opposite sides of the color wheel. For example, red and green are opposite, they make brown, orange and teal, the same. .If you have a color wheel it will make it easier to understand and pick appropriate colors to mix. If you search online, you can probably download and print off a color wheel! Good luck! I am new here...just an older gal (63) who has been bored to tears by all this non-stop lockdown nonsense. You are like a breath of fresh air!

You're so relatable. My parents are from Alberta Canada, so Canadians are my people. I spent some time in northern England so, a part of my heart is there as well. My hello comes from Utah. Dry between colors if you don’t want “muddy” colors. One thing I did was spray my water colour card panel with clear acrylic topcoat. I’ve got a can of spray varnish leftover from other crafting. I go outside, hold the card panel and spray a very light mist over it. I have matte finish so it doesn’t change the look at all, just keeps the color from rubbing off.

I think a bit of glycerin can be used instead of water. But test that theory before you make a gallon regardless. I like using glass bead gel for some stuff. I add a bit of paint most of the time. I also use just plain old tubs of vinyl wall spackle. That stuff you use to fill nail holes in your walls. I also add paint to that if I need a color other than white. I also bought a huge bottle of acrylic pearlized paint that I will also sometimes add for a little more bling. Both glass bead gel and vinyl spackle are sandable. Maybe I will go to Sasha's Facebook group and see if I have been approved to join yet, so I can share some examples of what those two mediums look like when used like a texture paste. Happy crafting folks!

I had an old cracked dish that I wanted to decorate to plant cacti into. I mixed polyfiller with some paint and PVA glue, I added a little silver dust and mixed well until smooth. I put a layer of PVA glue onto the dish and let it dry then put my paste into the dish, making swirls and patterns. After that dried, ( two days). I put another layer of watered down paint on top. After thoroughly drying I varnished the whole dish and planted it up. My friend was so impressed that she put some money into a local charity if I gave it to her. It was fun and easy to make using really cheap materials but looked really effective.

You can use opposing colors on the color wheel IF YOU let one dry before adding the second. With watercolor, you must not use lots of water when adding the 2nd color. But if careful it is a nice way to use complementary colors.

Loved your card.. I am also computer challenged as i like to call it lol :) Would it be possible for you to have a class-or a group of people on the internet crafting together or doing some tutorials together live? i have only seen some people doing it here in Norway but it should be fairly easy for you too i hope? or another crate together-thats fun. i would like doing some collage with napkins and other stuff,doing something with thriple thick..i need to get alinas embossing powder-if i can find it lol.. ha ha yes i do struggle with the technical stuff, takes me longer than the average person to get things done! I also made my own glitter and metallic paste and also it's just so much cheaper and quicker than buying, not bought anymore since. Ive been toying with online classes, the issue is having the products for the class and making sure everyone has them, that's the tricky bit. All my subbies are all over the world. Until i think about it more i'll just keep doing my online tutorials and teaching like this. I love teaching for free and inspiring people. KZbin pays me and that's pretty awesome!

I typed into google “what mixed colours make muddy colours”. It came up with a video of colour wheels and how they work. It might help help you Sasha because it helped me a lot and now I’m not as bad with mixing my colours.

Get a color wheel or prin one from internet. If colors are next to each other on the color wheel, it will make pretty colors. And as odd as it sounds, colors opposite are called complimentary colors, those will make muddy or poo colors. Love listening to your accent. Great tutorial.

I love how this card turned out! I've dipped my toes in the sands of mixed media art journal pages.. they are utterly cool! What could make this toe dippin' adventure even better? I've also found a beautiful channel to learn different methods of DIY book binding. Gahhh, I'm a happy girl seeing a sprinkle of mixed media on Sasha's channel as well! I do love me some Sasha! Btw, I tried to email you the other day but it got hung up in the spin cycle and never left my box. May have been best at the time, who knows. Another winner love, thank you so much for this video!

I learned how not to make ‘mud’ from Dyan Reavely videos in that she puts reds, oranges, pinks and yellows together in a group of colors that can be used with each other, and blues and greens in another group to play together. And, purple with either group. It’s helped me so far. And, I believe you can add the opposite group to the substrate once the other colors have dried.maybe this will help. TFS 🤗

Sasha...some weeks back I made this recipe and loved how it looked when I got it on to the paper/card, but when it dried I was horrified to see that it had all cracked. It wasn't a bad effect if that is what you wanted, but I wanted smooth. Eeeeewwwww! I try your recipe and see how that goes. Am I doomed?

Take a look at a color wheel. The colors that are opposite on the color wheel make poo brown 🤣. Tri to stay within a color family or use colors that are equaly spaced from each other on the color wheel like triads. The cool colors always mixes more vibrant colors. Warms mixed together are more muted. Purple always needs a cool red, vibrant green needs a cool blue. Hope that helps a little bit. 😊
