I finished this cardigan for my teenage daughter and now my husband wants one as well. My daughter wanted her pockets lower and the ribbing on the top so she could put her cellphone in it. She is so pleased with it. It has some minors imperfections but that's why it makes it special. Now, my work is set up for the next week or so so my better half can have his. On a side note, it isn't really beginner friendly if I may say as it requires a lot of counting and measurement. My take on😉. Thank you for the tutorial.

this is a wonderful sweater. I have made 3. I did the size by hook and size yarn, added to sleeve and made it longer. now to put in pockets on the "inside" of the front, for easy concealment of wallet and cell phone. I just love this pattern, I have 3 planned for next Christmas, I just got my yarn.

I had such a challenge doing this. My store had no 3 ply wool blend. So I had to get 4 ply acrylic. Then I had to decrease the hook to a J, 6 mm to get the gauge. The body did fine, though the size ran much larger than expected. Your pattern mentioned # st, but it would have been so better In judging the ending sizes of total inches after foundation st completed-after body was completed, etc. Continuing the pattern, the sleeve was so huge and long-it would have fit an orangutan. I had to frog it, then it took 4 times of trial and horrors to get a workable length with appropriate increases to match the # st required to fit around the areas that would become the armholes. Then the total length of the collar was 3.5 inches too short each end to correspond with the total length of the sweater. I also made a tie belt for it. It is the size of a coat, using 4 skeins of the 4 ply worsted. It is quite warm and snuggly. But it was a long drawn out process trying to make having to use what was available.

I think what you are calling the front loop is actually the front bar. I still like the look of going into the front bar...you will get a different look if you go into the actual front loop... with going into the front bar you get the two loops that look like a V if you go into the actual front loop you get just one loop that will look like a straight line...both look nice you just have to make sure that you do the same all the way across if not it will look strange...just my thoughts.

Jess I would like to know if you have used “Yarn Bee” thread ? There is one that is 100% Tencel. Have you tried this and if so what do you think about how it crochets and how it hangs after sweater is made? I am in the process of using this to make the date cardigan.
@makedocrew1717
@makedocrew1717 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Carolyn, no, I actually haven't. When I google it, I see that maybe it's called Fresh Haven? It seems like it might be a bit heavier than the yarn I used in the Day Date cardigan, which means you might want to make one size smaller than you want to wear. The great thing about that pattern though is that you can try it on as you go so you can get an idea of how it's fitting. :)

Pin the collar to the back and start there and work both sides down to the bottom of the cartigan and tuck the ends under? As opposed to tearing it all apart and starting over.

Thanks for posting this! I have a question about the collar, which I thought I had posted on your blog but maybe it didn't go through. I know the increases and decreases are supposed to be on the same side to create the curve, but after doing the last repeat of row 11 and the six even rows, I'm on the wrong side of the work for the decreases (the straight edge). I've counted a few times, and I have the correct number of rows, but it seems like doing an even number of rows in the "working even" section will always result is the decrease section starting along the straight edge. Am I counting wrong, or should I add a seventh row of even count? I don't want to have a collar that's too long and won't match up with the sweater edge.
@makedocrew1717
@makedocrew1717 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Nicole, I'd suggest just adding the extra row it seems like you need. You can accomodate a bit of extra collar length at the back of the neck if necessary and keep all the rows lined up in the collar front and sweater front pieces. Hope that makes sense!
@proctor59
@proctor59 5 жыл бұрын
I’m at that exact point on my sweater right now and the same thing is happening to me - after working row 11 on the collar and 4 more repeats of row 2 I’m ending up on the straight side, not the increase side. I guess I’ll just add one more row (for a total of 5 repeats of row 2) and hope it turns out OK when I start sewing it all together😎

Hey Pauletta, I'm sorry your sleeves are turning out long! Do you happen to know if they're matching the pattern gauge? I'd love to know so that can factor that into your feedback. I'm not quite sure why the collar isn't curving. Are all the increases and decreases on one side of the collar? That's what makes the curve happen. If you'd like to take a look at the collar tutorial photos in the blog post, they might also be helpful in troubleshooting the issue. :) makeanddocrew.com/how-to-crochet-long-sleeve-cardigan-video-part-2
