Hi Bonnie, Your work is gorgeous! Can you tell me Where or what store I can get those nova high fire ceramic tiles? I would like to make a table, but all I find is subway with has a little lift on the edges and I would like a tile that is flat and solid colors. I am looking for different kinds of blue and I just can't find anyplace at all. (I live in Canada and it is even harder, for some reason, they only have washed colors: grays, whites, and more grays lol). Thank you! I got your book that has the apple on the cover. Love it and very informative for a novice like me

Thank you Bonnie. I am very disappointed. I did the reverse method for a mosaic put the tape and glue the surface and put mosaic on top. The glue is not drying at all and also came up and interact with the tape on the top. so now you can see glue (white) between the tape and the mosaic (glass mosaic). I don't now how to make it dry. It's been 2 days already. I even put it in the room where my furnace is, to dry it and it is not doing anything. 😭😭😭😭 help me please!!!!

What a great project! So you didn't use tile nippers but a tile cutter? Was this easier on your hands? Did you also have a crew of volunteers?

Used a face tape method, worked over contact paper sticky side up. The contact paper acts as a temporary adhesive. There is a separate video about that technique on the channel. If your column is thinner than that shown in the video you may want to use the mesh method, it accommodates the smaller roundness of the column. I just got the tile cutter at Home Depot, but several years ago. It is a work horse. There are a wide variety of table top versions. Maybe check with a local tile store who sells to contractors and ask their recommendation too. I always buy the best I can afford at the time, saves time and materials. Good luck, keep creating!

Hi Bonnie.... Do you ever mosaic over PVC round columns. Would it hold up in Minnesota? Can you adhere tile to PVC? Thinset, glue?

I have not personally used PVC as a substrate. You can not use thin-set unless you first cover PVC with A/R mesh and a scratch coat of thin-set (making it have a concrete surface). Could use silicone, but messy. Probably will not last forever, but will for a while, make sure you use silicone rated for exterior.

Hi. Can you tell me what type of professional grade tape you used. I am experimenting with clear packing tape but wonder if this too sticky. Also wondering what you think about using this method with very small tess. Is there a size where it might be too small to work well in your expert? Thx

Professional tile tape used for this project made by EMI (smalti.com/mosaic-face-mount-tile-tape.html) it is very strong, I use for thick ceramic. Challenging for very small tess, I recommend you make a small prototype, a test, see how well it works fo what you have in mind. For smaller pieces and for more delicate tess (stained glass) I use packing tape or contact paper for face tape. I find it releases easier. Hi! Did you use sanded or I unsanded grout?

I ALWAYS use polymer fortified SANDED grout. And in this case a premium brand that included additives to protect from UV. Thanks for your interest!

The project you show in this video has what seem to be SUPER small gaps, and the project I'm working on has tiny gaps too, but I know sanded grout is best, so I was worried because I know small gaps can be iffy with sanded grout. I chose the Polyblend Sanded Grout, and all signs point to this one being good for my project. Fingers crossed!
