Precipitates are formed of that compounds which are insoluble in water. For more information refer solubility chart. Nitrate and potassium compounds aresoluble in water so both can't form ppt

First balance the equation, now in your doubt, in PbI2, Pb (Lead) has a velncy of 2, that's why there is 2 after 'I'. In KI, potassium (K) have a velncy of only 1, that's why there's no 2 after 'I" in KI.
