This is the best perspective drawing, because it is a real scene with real people. You make perspective entertaining. Not just boring 'boxes'. Thank you

I really enjoyed this detailed tutorial . i like how you explain the vanishing point technique and the horizon lines , showing the pillar drawing technique , how to make objects appear further away and how adding dimension , the lines have so much to do with beginning the sketch, and the tonal coloring adding contrast really makes the sketch complete. I think that impresses me since I like contrast and shading techniques,

Thanks Teoh for this tutorial! I really learnt alot about perspectives! One question I would like to clarify is "Do the bottom of the pillars end on the horizon line? Or must we gauge the ending through observation?" Thanks so much for the tips like finding the focal point, vanishing and horizon points :))
@teohyc4 жыл бұрын
If you draw a line through the bottom (and top) of all pillars, they will end at a vanishing point which is on the horizon line. So yes, but it’s more accurate to say they end at the vanishing point

@@teohyc in thinking about vanishing point, I am wondering if a person could make a tool with a couple of wooden frames, maybe a 5x7 and a larger one. And put nails around the edge of the frame. And have another frame larger outside of that same thing with nails. And run some elastic string somehow from each nail to the center of the frame where you have one clasp or ring holding all the elastic together. The clasp would be the "vanishing point". Then for each sketch you could physically move the vanishing point up down, left right, diagonal, out of the frame etc, and anchor it to the outer frame with a different string or cord. This probably sounds really complicated but I can sort of picture it in my mind. As a tool to sort of find the vanishing point from any image until a person gets better at knowing how to find it. You could maybe put it over an image and move it around until it looks right. I hope that made sense. You'ld need to mount both frames on a clear base, maybe plexiglass? Might need a custom size frame for one of these double spread sketchbook pages.

@@LulArt Ok so what does the Louvre mean? I took french for 5 years but don't use it so I can only count to 3, know a few words, recognize it when I hear it or see it written but can't translate. Off to research 🗼

@@recoveringsoul755 Moveable slats for letting air in/out can be spelled [or spelt] louvre or louver. The French Museum is Louvre. I think the louver/louvre originally had something to do with letting smoke out. All very confusing. haha

@@patferguson572 spelt. I thought that was a grain, and it is, but apparently now the dictionary people also say it is an acceptable form for the past tense of spell. It's as if people spelled it wrong for so long that the dictionary people just threw their hands up in frustration and said "OK FINE, we'll let you use spelt also". I just know if I spelled it that way when I was a kid I would have gotten it incorrect. I don't think I can ever switch over to spelt now it feels wrong to me. I'm sure there is some proper word for "dictionary people" , the keepers of the words, like the Webster's folks but I don't know what it is. i like learning new words. My dictionary was stolen so I have to look them up online now. But they keep changing meanings of words so I feel like an idiot. They've changed the meaning of the word "preference" recently, so it's now considered offensive if you refer to someone's sexual preference. It's supposed to be orientation instead of preference. They're going to change the meaning of racism too. These are going to have legal implications and just confuse everyone. Few years ago I was taking a test, multiple choice answers. And one question was about the proper way to dispose of confidential documents, one option I had to look up the meaning later. It wasn't the correct answer. It was Defenestration. I was horrified we even need to have a word for that. I sure hope nobody checked that answer thinking it made them look smart.
