Hi Thomas! Never push the wood too fast through the table saw or bandsaw. Let the blade do the cutting. Pushing the piece faster than what the blade can cut will give you poor cuts and is a safety issue.

Greatproject David! I would love to have a CNC as I have projects in mind that have repetitive steps and a CNC would simplify and quicken the tasks immensely. But alas, I have other needs that are more pressing and have to come first, so a jig saw it will have to be for the time being.

Could you do the top by making a larger diameter oval as a guide for the router to run around and a scrap piece of plywood underneath? Seems like a good alternative to CNC and will Mae it just as easy to batch out a bunch.

i can't speak for anyone else, but i hate CNC'ers 'cause i CANNOT afford one (yet...when i can, then i won't hate them anymore!)...j/k i don't hate them, i just can't wait to be able to get one of my own & BE one of them!
@darinnetherland34666 жыл бұрын
Probably because the vast majority of hobbyists can’t dump $3,000+ into one tool. Not very DIY friendly. It would be nice if the guy gave at little more thoughtful CNC alternative. Jig saw is ok, but not a great option, especially for batching out a lot of these. I was thinking just cut a large diameter oval out of plywood for a handheld plunge router guide.

Awesome video, David. Question: since you cut the hole in the top cover with the grain, won't that weaken the wood and be more prone to break? I only ask as we have a lot of kids for the holidays and they all like to mess with things. Yes we can build another but I'd want to anticipate that if I could. Thanks!!
