This happened to my parents when my mother was heavily pregnant with me. She went to the toilet in the dark and my dad heard someone moving around and in his still half asleep state, he swung his bat at my mother when she came back into the room (in the dark, obviously). Thankfully she screamed and dove on the bed , so he missed her. But he still swears to this day he saw her in bed beside him. My mother laughs about it now (I'm almost 32), but my dad still finds it very upsetting to talk about. I'm not saying its normal 😂 but I do think it's more plausible than it initially seems. I don't necessarily think it applies for this case as he clearly wasn't half asleep when he fired his gun four times into the locked bathroom door. But I always think of my dad when I hear about this case!

As a South African, this episode felt personal and more serious than the others. Oscar's trial was so huge in the country and the media went crazy about it. Unfortunately only Reeva and him know what happened that night because some parts of his story sound a little bit fabricated and do not align with the timeline of events, he was also lucky that he had a strong defense team behind him. His abusive past and aggression episodes also add doubt and kind of invalidate the truthfulness of his story. Back to you Bailey, I love the look for today. You look bold and beautiful as always... I'm a south african living in the UK and this story broke as I was on the plane flying back to Johannesburg SA for a holiday, just insane! What happened and fact when I heard about it. Always love you & how you tell these stories x

Unfortunately, I had a dear friend pass away in a similar situation. She was a wonderful woman, wife, and mother of two little girls. There had been recent break ins in their neighborhood. The couple thought they heard someone breaking in earlier the same tragic night. So the husband had his gun near him after checking things out the first time. Later during the night he woke up hearing someone in the kitchen. He shot at the figure in the dark room. He assumed his wife was still in bed when he left the room. But she was shot in the chest. Their oldest girl, just 4, called 911 while he performed CPR. That was a tragic mistake. People doubted him but their relationship was full of love. He was on edge from actual break ins. This athlete?! No. With his history, I fully believe he knew who was in that bathroom.

Wasn’t Gerrie Nel brilliant as the Public Prosecutor. He was an expert on guns but led Oscar down some clever pathways to expose his lies regarding the firearms. He effectively got Oscar to change his defence on day one of cross examination, Oscar then burst into tears because he didn’t understand the law.
@SoothingTrash3 ай бұрын
Well yes, he obviously did it. The debate is was it deliberate or accidental

@@SoothingTrash No debate. Both the Supreme Court and High Court found him guilty. Not accidental. Only debate is whether he should be out under house arrest. For me answer is no.

@@SoothingTrashOnly a naive human being in denial thinks it wasn't intentional. He knew what he was doing. You don't fire a gun 4 times at a closed door without knowing who's in there. And how can you not feel that the person you sleep next to isn't in bed when you wake up? How did he not see that? He did it deliberately. It's not rocket science it's common sense. He really thinks we're dumb with his ridiculous excuses. And it was a private Gated community how could he think they'd be an intruder? He really thinks we're dumb

I use my phone as a light, especially if I'm at someone else's house. Also if Oscar shouted at the "suspect" in the bathroom I'd imagine his gf would respond & if she did he would recognize her voice. I don't know. I don't buy this whole "it was an accident" story
@Savannahmai3 ай бұрын
Exactly my thoughts. I don’t think that point was given the attention it deserved. He claims that was his voice screaming (which I don’t even believe) but if it was, wouldn’t she have responded??? I don’t buy it.

What is his opinion on the advantage debate?
@stephanieramos60473 ай бұрын
@@dreamy9919 He believes there is no advantage. He’s a biomechanics professor so he has done multiple research experiments with runners that have prosthetic legs. He’s actually testified in court for the side of Paralympic athletes against the Olympic organization. At the end of the day, the athletes lost a limb or even two and there is no way they can ever get those back. That’s a disadvantage period. Also wearing a prosthetic leg is not the most comfortable experience no matter how long the person has been wearing them. They’re stuck with blisters and pain (even phantom pain) for the rest of their lives.

The bathroom was en-suite in the bedroom. The bathroom window was literally too high up for anyone to access without a tall ladder - there was no ladder anywhere, nor any security camera footage of anyone near the house at any point that night/morning. Gerrie Nel (the attorney) and his awesome advocate did a stellar job of finding all the evidence to prosecute and get him sentenced. He had legitimate anger/rage issues. Reeva stood no chance. RIP.
