This is one of the only videos I've found with making back-lacing stays, so this is really helpful!

The crispness of this flatlining technique is SO GOOD. I might have to re-cut my Jack corset lining... 🤔

It seriously has changed the game for corsetry for me.

Oooo 18th century stays with modern construction! Where were you 2 nights ago? I am sitting here watching this as I hand stitch my pieces together i did sew the boning channels by machine but hey i found you through this you tube marathon so yeah!

Aww well I am glad you found me, I love using modern techniques for the most part. There's a time and place for hand sewing for sure but if I can do something on machine I will try it at least lol

Thank you! My one regret is that I cannot for the life of me remember where I bought it and what item it was, all I know is that it's silk taffeta or shantung and that it's my favorite shade of purple lol

Hahah thank you, I am trying to make it less stiff, like you know finding the balance of this is how you do this but also sewing is fun lol

That makes it a little less scary watching you do this. I like seeing it done with a machine. Question do you regularly do pushup? The Stays look comfortable.
@CaseyReneeCosplay
@CaseyReneeCosplay 3 жыл бұрын
Lol no I rarely do push ups I actually hate push ups but I see on IG all the time people doing the “push up test” in corsets so I thought it would be silly to try, then I realized I suck at them and hate them lol

They are fabulous and what I love about them is when you purchase them you purchase only your size so you don’t have to deal with all the other size lines.

So many comments to add! 1. Your dog is perfect and I want him/her. ;) 2. LOVE your nail polish! 3. Love how your method is a modern way to make a historical garment. and FINALLY (lol) 4. what were you using for the boning? were those just large white zip ties? Keep up the good work!
@CaseyReneeCosplay
@CaseyReneeCosplay 4 жыл бұрын
Aww thank you! I used a combination of synthetic whale bone and zip ties!

How did you see the horizontal boning channel ? Very beautiful indeed.
@CaseyReneeCosplay

Instead of sewing straight lines through that section I pivot at the intersection, sew along the horizontal boning channel and then pivot a second time to go down the adjacent boning channel.

What is the secret to matching your boning channels with the pattern channels? I try to get my lines lined up but they always come out weird.
@CaseyReneeCosplay
@CaseyReneeCosplay 2 жыл бұрын
I directly copy them from the lines on the pattern. I use a light box and put the pattern piece then the fabric down and draw right on the fabric.

Love it. FOr a larger bust, would you recommend gores to avoid a uni-boob effect?
@CaseyReneeCosplay
@CaseyReneeCosplay 4 жыл бұрын
Not for this style, red threaded actually sells the pattern in multiple sizes. It looks like on their Etsy the largest size in this pattern is for a 42" waist and they do not add gores to it.

@@CaseyReneeCosplay With a 38 waist and a 45 bust, a different pattern might be better for me :)
