Hi Witkomon. It's me again. I believe I've figured out a way to add texture to cards to give them some extra pop. Since I'll only make 1 of each card this method works well for me although it is possible to mass produce. An empty fountain pen will do the trick although I also use a protractor. I would engrave into the card and also use the protractor to get even curved lines. This method is relatively quick and only takes me about 15 min per card. I also use a ruler when i want straight lines and also have some other tools to help me trace out patterns on them. Overall, this works great for me as it s quick and effective. To mass produce them you could 3d print out a stamp that has the exact design you want to engrave onto the card and then press down for a few seconds per card. I'm not sure if pokemon engrave into their cards or add an extra layer on top, but I think that if they changed it around I wouldn't notice. It doesn't really matter too much what they do as the concept of custom cards is to push the boundaries of where pokemon doesn't go. Anyway, I can rest now knowing I've found a way :)
@Witkomon2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much M&M! That’s a very creative method for adding the texture! The best part is that it can be done entirely with materials found at home, so no need to go out and buy any fancy tools, or stickers! And you’re right, with a 3D printed stamp you could probably do it a lot quicker. Are you engraving directly onto the transparent paper that has the print of your card on it? Or are you using an additional layer for that? Thank a lot for letting me know though, that’s very smart and I will definitely try it. Depending on how it turns out I could even make a video on it! If possible, I’d love to see some pictures of how your cards came out! You could DM me on Instagram @witkomon, or if that doesn’t work for you I also have discord and some other socials I could give you! Thanks!
@MM-xj2lw2 жыл бұрын
@@Witkomon Thank you so much for the kind words! Regarding the transparency paper, yes I engrave directly onto it. I use a fine tip pen so the engravings are made quite easily. I'm not sure how other tools would interact with the paper. Adding another layer on top would, from my experience reduce the level of vibrance the card has. I'll soon be sure to upload a few photos of my cards to your discord.

Wow this was a different type of video from usual and I absolutely loved it. The backstory to your Pokemon experience is so enjoyable to listen to while we can see the time lapse of you painting. It turned out to be an absolute masterpiece, I loved the paint blending for the sky and I could use that technique as I really want to get better at painting as it gives a more refined effect as opposed to just using pens/pencils. Anyways just wanted to say that this was an amazing video and I hope you continue to make more like this. Until next time man 😄👌🏾👍🏾

Thanks so much Glitch! I really appreciate the kind comment, and I'm super glad you enjoyed the new style! I wanted to experiment with doing something different here, and I'm not yet sure how it turned out for KZbin, but I'm glad you enjoyed it! Also, that's awesome that you want to get into painting! It's actually my favorite medium to use by far, I love it a lot more then pencil crayons, markers etc! It definitely takes more patience (I wouldn't necessarily say skill, as I am actually completely self taught lol), but I think what you could make with paint is a lot nicer! If you need any tips, I'd be happy to help! (Also, a lot of of it comes down to paint quality. Don't cheap out on that. My white and black paint is very good, since they are the most important for blending, and are used in every single painting. So you could see that I had absolutely no problem with the Lugia. But my orange, yellow, and red were not great. You might be able to pick up that I was struggling a bit with those lol, although it did eventually turn out. Good quality paint just makes it infinitely easier!)

Wow, Pokemon Go as your first! It's very different from a "traditional" Pokemon game, but that's really interesting! I REALLY enjoyed Pokemon Go when it first came out, and I still play it from time to time even today! That's awesome that it was your first, to have no experience with Pokemon, and to play it! I imagine it would be full of wonder! So many new things! I'm kind of jealous! Thank you for sharing!!

Ahh, I love the DS! Maybe I'm biased because I grew up with it, but it's got to be my favorite handheld of all time! 3DS' can be kind of expensive, but you can pick up a regular DS lite for very cheap. Online maybe $30-$40 at most, from somewhere like eBay. Or on something like Facebook Marketplace you can even find one as low as $10. But of course, if that's not possible for you, then maybe some day!
