Then why not just learn to play a real instrument if stealing is so much trouble?
@fatbastardbeats
@fatbastardbeats 6 жыл бұрын
I have limited experience with playing instruments, so I can't speak on the skill level. But with sampling, you're restricted to what you're given in the record, you cant change the melodies or soul put into them but you can manipulate them into something of your own. And with that restriction comes unlimited creative energy.
@laurajohnson4086
@laurajohnson4086 6 жыл бұрын
Benis - sorry but that music is not "your own" unless you actually wrote it. If you are taking samples off commercial records, that is called stealing others work. ---- Plus you have severely LIMITED your creative energy because (as you said) you can't change the melodies or soul put into this. I'm just stating the facts of reality.

Pitch the samples for tempos like individual turntables and chopping the drums notes into quarters to line up the tracks. Loop based production djing on samplers is the key. I fact ableton live audio back in the day was inspired by mpcs. Tempo and timing along with tones bass, mid and treble.

I was hoping for some actual "How To" info. I want a video that shows how he took all those samples and pieced them together to make that beat. He obviously didn't just take all those recordings and magically a song came out of it. There's all sorts of production going on there that we didn't get to see.
@ooktar
@ooktar 7 жыл бұрын
Sorry if my message came off rude but I wasn't trying to doubt your process, just that I wish you went a bit more in depth in the video of what that process is. The article is a bit more helpful in that regard but what I meant by production is you actually taking said samples and seeing you layer, sequence and manipulate those samples to make your beat which we didn't get to see. We see you getting your samples and then we see the finished beat and nothing in between. I only say that because I've been interested in MPC style beat making for a while now but there's not too many tutorials that go over it very well.

that would be a long and boring video tbh, most people wouldn't have the patience for it.
@maladon5422
@maladon5422 4 жыл бұрын
it just comes down to editing the start times of the samples individually so that they start "on beat" and then changing the pitch (and subsequently the speed) of the samples so that they are in time with each other. outside of that it just comes down to sample selection and having a good ear for what fits together. A really great ear can hear pockets between two separate samples that most people would never think go together, and make it into something amazing and never heard before.

lmao, I kinda would trade my Mac and couple modern drum machines just to get some old school gear, but then again idk. Making beats on laptop is so easy that sometimes you kinda miss or forget that feeling how it truly is to make beats. Idk you feel me? :D

Does the Turntable go straight into the MPC? Or run it through a mixer/audio interface first?
@andrewlewis7409
@andrewlewis7409 5 жыл бұрын
I think you can, but run the turntable to the mixer first, then the out from the mixer into the in of the mpc through 1/4 cables, then you can run the audio from the mpc into an audio interface which then goes to speakers

One question , how to find the good kick ? Everytime i want to sample a kick from record , The sound of the hi hat comes and breaks the end of the sound of the kick, I try to use the decay / release but it distorts the sound of the kick
@wariusgaius
@wariusgaius 7 жыл бұрын
1. there are loads of kicks with no hi hat attached to it to be found so dig further; 2. leave the hi hat in, might work out in the long run.

You can also try playing with a LPF (lowpass filter). Start with it fully open and dial back until the attack of the hihat softens & disappears altogether.
