Making a Big Block Chevy and 4L80e fit in a Squarebody! With custom crossmembers.

In this video we get into some pretty heavy modifications required to stuff a Big Block and 4L80e heavy duty transmission into a Squarebody 4x4 truck. Also installing custom engine and transmission crossmembers and heavy duty motor mounts.

I had problems with those mounts on my k30 not fitting either even without this support rod plate a lot of those trucks didn't come with a support rods I've never seen any issues with not using them

@carlpreston1680 Yeah probably not in the 80s but this motor/trans combo came out of a 1998 so I wanted to keep it all bolted together with the rods etc. like it was stock.

Just found your channel. I recently picked up a 1998 Gen VI 454 that I’m planning on putting in my 1985 K10 and I’ve been trying to find out all the issues that I will have installing it. Yeah the trans tunnel on a 2wd is cab is much smaller than the 4wd ones. Sorry you had to find out the hard way on that. Your truck is looking really nice! I’m going to be watching your other videos two. New sup

@@vikingmech one thing I’m curious about is what you are doing for the exhaust. Such as what headers you are using. Doesn’t seem to be many options for headers that I have found for big blocks in these trucks.

@slingingsteel9744 I bought a set of the cheapest mid-length stainless chevelle headers on ebay for mockup purposes, but I'm actually going to run them. I only had to cut & modify one tube, otherwise they fit perfect. Quality is actually very nice too. They are advertised as inch and 5/8 but they're actually inch and 3/4. I'll be making the rest of the exhaust from 3" stainless tubing. I'll be making a video on all of that soon.
