Making a Cherry and Walnut Dresser: Andrew Pitts ~ FurnitureMaker

For many years I've promised my wife that I would make her a chest of drawers. I've finally made good on my word, and here is the result. This chest has a cherry carcase, walnut panels and drawer fronts, and very interesting vintage white oak drawer sides and backs. These woodworking videos show how Andrew Pitts makes his fine custom furniture. He also often demonstrates new uses for his ShopBot Desktop CNC routing machine, using Vectic Aspire software and has included other useful videos such as how to photograph furniture. I ALWAYS enjoy your videos Andrew. What a lovely gift for your wife. And I can just imagine the way you would have been torn over whether or not to save that history on the stair treads. (How I would love to live in the USA and work with your lovely timbers. Eucalypts are all we have domestically here.)

Are you from "down under", Rob? I ask because we had a large eucalyptus tree that I had to cut down (too near the house) because I learned that they grow really tall in Australia and that I could not have a big tree like that 30 ft from the house. I was going to carve some, and actually did a little, but the wood shrinks like crazy and my carving ended up looking like it had gone thru the dryer!

I was just going to ask if any if that wood came from Virginia. As usual great skill and craftsmanship. Im the Olympia guy who was coming up to the totem pole dedication but family stuff got in the way. Would like to get out and about but looks like everyone is house bound right now but it can’t last forever.
