Its pretty much what my videos are about, I show the first time I do something and the common mistakes and fixes. I don't make videos of the second or third time I do it, as by then I probably won't make any notable mistakes.

I have made a few, but I usually only video the first time I do things, so I can film the mistakes, and fixes. Oddly enough monkeypod and koa after the finish is applied looks very similar. I have not made a full koa stock, but a composite of light and dark contrasting wood (dark being the koa).

Does the recoil cause the adjustment to slip over time?

none what so ever, however if it did start to happen or what you could do would be to just use a drill bit and dimple one of the two shafts so that the set screw can settle into the rod
