Hello my friend, Thank you for posting your footage of your adjustable cheek piece install. I've watched it in my works canteen with the sound off. You've shown people what can be achieved without a big machine shop. With a bit of will and fore thought it's surprising what can be done. Thank you.

This was just brilliant I can see it costing me money in the long term.My S200 action is fully customised but the stock is standard.I can see my dream stock now with adjustable butt pad stipling on fore end and whole of pistol grip with finger grooves,different finish and some wood removed to open out the trigger area.I shall be following these closely nice work.All the best Tony

This Is a nice easy one, when I'm more competent with the filming I will do one of the really involved builds. Some can be super tricky to do 😀

Need this badly for my Wichita 1375. The former owner had the original stock set up for Palma rifle distances. Such as 500 yards or even further to his own personal fit. For typical closer ranges, for me i can just barely get sight alignment at 400 yards. And 300 yards is downright painful to my cheek bone.

Hi Great informative video, so I’m wondering if it’s possible to do the same customisation on my HW99S which I’ve recently purchased. I realise this the entry level Wauhrach but I love the simplicity of the gun. However the stock is very low for using a scope, it needs to be about 25mm higher. How would I go about getting an estimate from you?

Hi Tilly I have watched your very instructional videos , can i please ask you for a bit of advice ,I have bought the comb riser kit to fit to my AirArms s400 stock, would you cut parallel with action or measure down equidistant from the top of the comb ,like you mentioned the s200 stock is easier
@tillysgunstocks
@tillysgunstocks Ай бұрын
Hi mate, to make your life easier it'd be best to have as much of the cut horizontal as you can make it,whilst keeping the lines with the stock body looking nice. You could then screw another long piece of wood to the underside the cheek piece,a screw at the front and rear ends. You can then make the cut through the screwed on piece and into the cheek with it inverted. it'll give you a decent way of keeping it true. 😉

@ wow matey many thanks for the swift reply,you are a true gentleman!, I have stripped my stock down to bare wood and applied a coat of primer to it this will make the marking easier to see ,this is a winter project with a spare S400 stock ,my objective is to fitted comb riser as mentioned,I shall then be fitting a home made hamster as per your other video ,the finish is hopefully going to be diy hydro dipped in a carbon fibre ,silver/black then the rising part of the comb and hamster will be finished in black ,then I’m fitting a black 3D printed butt hook to the rear ,that should keep me busy during the colder months,hopefully my battered old stock should emerge in the spring like a beautiful butterfly 🧚thank you again for providing the impetus to attempt this project .kind regards to a true craftsman

how do you know how big of a piece of wood to cut out to make the comb on any rifle or shotgun, is there a rule of thumb or a standard ?
@tillysgunstocks
@tillysgunstocks Жыл бұрын
Probably the most important considerations are how big would you need it to be,to be able to hold it safely once chopped off, to rework it and get any datum faces machined in. Then you need to consider how much of the cheek piece you use. It needs to be a bit larger than the touch points you use Then lastly you need to have it styled so it looks balanced and mean 😉

Also anything you can do or recommend to remove wood around front of the trigger guard as I have big mitts.

@@tonyashton780 are you on the new airgunforum ? There's a couple of fellas that could do exactly what you need. Regards the trigger guard/removing wood when I get this stock done and built up I'll show you how I modified the action to remove the factory trigger guard entirely. I'll be making a similar replacement to what you'd see on the hft500 but it allows you to open up the slot a lot and modify the lead in to the trigger. Especially useful for larger hands. And it also Increases the footprint of the action in the stock and makes it all a lot more solid 😉

@@tillysgunstocks No I don't really do forums or social media.The only people I have dealt with are Tony Wall at Sandwell & Phil Crampton at Rat Works.Two names kept cropping up regarding stocks your good self and Warren Edwards I believe.I only deal with recommended people!,can't be dealing with Fred in a shed and poor workmanship and two year waits.I have dealt with Air Arms for years and Claire and her team always deliver.
