WOW, they're all so gorgeous. You can also just fold the gold leaf into your clay if you can't get it off the tape to reuse it.

The lanterns _would_ look so nice with tiny gold tassels! The crackle makes them look very old and weathered.

Aww these look so cute!!! You always manage to come up with so many brilliant ideas!! There is no end to the possibilities with resin! I love them

They look great for someone who is not primarily a polymer clay artist. I think maybe the blade in your craft knife was a bit stubby for such a delicate job. A number 3 scalpel blade ( can’t remember if that is the right number tbh ) would have made it easier for you. A thinner more pointy one is basically what I’m getting at.

Tassels yes!!!❤ polymer clay is tricky at best. I love adding foil to my pieces. How lucky you are to live so close to Wendy!! I bought a motor for my pasta machine. Total game changer for me with arthritic hands!

Wow, two amazing artists living so close! I adore Wendy from Toonphis Crafts. Love her personality! I love your fans and lanterns. I never thought of adding foil to clay when stamping. Thank you!

Claire, thank you for a fun video. I never thought of using a pasta machine for clay. I used clay a year ago to try to make Christmas ornaments with cookie cutters. It didn't turn out so well. Needless to say, the box of clay is in storage in my craft room. Now I know if I want to try it again, I should invest in a pasta machine. Thanks for the inspiration.

What you did is really cool! I love the gold on the red! I think it's really pretty whether it's for Chinese New Year or just for anything. That's cool that Wendy lives near you. I watch her all the time, too.

Beautiful! Pro tip. Avoid sculpt 3. For a few cents more, get sculpt premo. Sculpt lol is brittle and breaks easily.

It's cool that you and Wendy live so close! You are both so sweet! I agree with you about the fans, and yes, the lanterns would look great with tassels! I can imagine them hanging over a babbling fish pond with pretty koi! I really love your ideas with the Chinese New Year... don't forget your fortune cookie! 🥠🧧🥢🍜

Great first polymer video. This will help a lot of crafters consider some of the issues you had beforehand. A clay blade and cookie cutters can help cut out shapes, even if they aren't the exact shape. Also becareful about putting to thick of a bunch of clay through the pasta machine at one time, as it can cause problems and make your rollers uneven.

Yeah, polymer clay takes a lot of wrist work to soften it up, but it’s worth it in the end. The pasta machine works wonders. The fans came so pretty. 😁

I've been waiting for this video and it surely lived up to my excitement 😊 They came out beautiful a little sanding around the edges and that's it. You did a great job don't be so hard on yourself. I've been playing with clay recently myself and you've inspired me to try this technique 😊

They’re lovely but there’s so much foil wasted when you lift it with tape. I would remove most of it then use the tape for the little bits. I totally agree about the lanterns needing real tassels. Good excuse to try it again. Where did you get your drill from? Been searching for a good one but they’re so expensive. Can’t wait for your next video xx

These are lovely Claire! I said in the chat that in my jewellery making kit I have several shades of gold/bronze jump rings, etc, but they so rarely match the shade of gold of the thing I'm making. I actually prefer a contrasting silver than a badly matched gold, so it's all good!
@pixxistixstones6840 Жыл бұрын
Very cool...!! However, I would have saved that tape with all the excess gold leafing, and used it in some of my resin creations, maybe to add a layer of dimension to the top of a pendant.

I love these, but fighting with a cocktail stick just isn't my thing. I have an old set of soft paintbrushes that I use, and I find it's much faster, and a lot easier. The only problem with these is that I occasionally find a stray brush bristle left behind, which requires fishing out with tweezers.
