I purchased her book “Making A Good Script Great (Second Edition)” years ago, and it has been a tremendous help, particularly in the area of rewriting. She cites “Witness” and other good films as examples. To hear her speak is an additional pleasure! A remarkable woman and fine teacher! Off the topic: I’ve also been inspired by her spiritual journey, recounted in “Jesus Rode A Donkey.” It is the foundation of her ability to “nurture others,” as she describes.

A great tip in Linda's book is about mirroring the opening image - at the end of the script. Eg) "Leon" - at the start we approach the city over the water of the bay. Then at the end - we leave the city flying over the waters of the bay,

"There's a lot of people who will practice their own creativity on your work." It is hard not to let that happen, and hard, if someone asks for your help, not to do that. Thanks!

Delightful interview with a lovely lady. So much more nuanced insights than the typical "this is the formula" line of thought. And lovely that she is so encouraging: I think all creatives need encouragement (the word's root gives us a clue: "courage" from the French word)...

Why is the audio super low on this channel all the time? It's ironic considering this is a film channel.

Right. One of the only reasons Quentin Tarantino got famous is because his producer's acting teacher's wife knew someone who knew Harvey Keitel who showed him Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs script and he liked it. That situation is a great example of knowing the right people and luck.

She is truly a master of screenwriting. I know taking her advice and studying her books will result in a great screenplay, which is kinda strange where she doesn't write them.
