Highly skilled,thorough and painstaking process. That’s reflected in the beauty of the finished product. Video was superbly shot and edited,with a detailed and highly articulate explanation of the entire build process. I can’t understand why your channel is so ridiculously undersubscribed,your work is as good as any of KZbin’s top woodworkers.

Thank you very much John! So nice to hear, makes all the effort worth it ahah. I’ll keep making videos no matter how big my channel. If your wanted to share the video, that would be amazing!

ahah you can never have enough right?! Those Jubillee clamps are fantastic for gluing up large segmented rings. Glad you liked the video mate!

Excellent video with the narration and excellent piece. Thanks for the tip about the amount of glue for veneer. The work with many repetitive tasks often looks the best to me. Good on you for having the patience to follow through, that's what separates the highly skilled crafts people from the rest.

@Sean Evelegh your welcome! My comment to anyone that says they don't want narration is that you would never tell your teacher to teach without talking.

wow, edge jointing those thin veneers on a jointer, surprised that works well. I've found with my thick (1/16") veneers, a track-saw does an outstanding job of jointing edges. nice table!
@SeanEvelegh Жыл бұрын
Yeah it only really works with thick construction veneer. I like the tracksaw method, that's a good idea!
@Paul-jp8zz Жыл бұрын
@@SeanEvelegh The cool thing about the track-saw method especially when laying up panels is that rather than just jointing square and edge gluing like you would any normal panels, you can set two pieces of veneer side by side with an overlap of an inch or two (as needed) and then lay the track at an angle within the overlap so your cutline more closely matches any grain direction. A nice sharp blade with a good zero clearance track (ie. Festool) and foam backing, you get a perfect cutline *at an angle across the overlapping region* so the joint line isn't square to the edge of the piece.. It can do wonders for ensuring seams are invisible even when you try to look for them...

That's magnificent. I love the attention for detail. Just wondering: why did you use smaller dowels to attach the bigger dowels and not glue in the bigger dowels directly into the wooden rings?
@SeanEvelegh Жыл бұрын
Cheers Marco! I used dowel joints to ensure perfect joints for the spindles with no gaps. I could cut that spindles on the tablesaw and it would meet the segmented ring surface flush and be completely flat. If I inset that into the ring, there is a great chance you’ll see gaps around the spindle.

Applying the rubio to the dowels while they were still mounted in the lathe would have sped that bit up for ya..
@SeanEvelegh Жыл бұрын
That is a good suggestion! Thank you. I'd have to be careful not to scratch them before the base is good together.
