Really cool knife, I have one that is similar like a Modified Nessmuk and it’s 3/16 thick with Molave wood ( a Philippines hardwood) handles, it was made by a local blacksmith here in the Philippines to my specifications and then I made the leather sheath 👍😁💪🏻🇺🇸

Just getting my thoughts and tools together to start knife making and this exact style/design is what I drew. I want the first knife I make to be my edc IF I don’t screw it up to bad. I think Iv done enough research and if I take my time should be fine. Beautiful knife!

If it had a reverse hump on the top closer to the handle as to lay your pointer finger on top of the blade it would make a very comfortable knife to skin with.. I have always imagined that style but have never seen one made ..nice knife👍

I like it but think it has a bit too much belly for a a great skinning blade. I tend to like skinners a bit more pointed and less belly to them. I realize skinning may not be the end use for this blade but that is where it takes my mind. Beautiful work and a very nice looking knife.

I wish I would have made plans for it. I haven't used that grinder in a long time, but one of my friends has it now. I might see if I can grab it and make some.

The lawn mower blade would already be heat treated wouldn't it ?...and what type of drill bits do you use...? Thanks
@theriversexperience9383
@theriversexperience9383 3 жыл бұрын

@@theriversexperience9383 got ya...I have been using 100 plus year old hardened buzz saw blades for my blade stock...I'm trying to skip the softening process but have been having fits trying to drill pin holes. I use cobalt bits (or misuse) do you know any better bits to use...I heard maybe masonary bits ?....thankyou

My little experience is lawnmower blades are not equal.
@theriversexperience9383
@theriversexperience9383 Жыл бұрын
That's 100% true. You really need to know the brand to see if they are good steel. Most new lawn mower blades do not make good knives.
