I signed in yesterday and saw about 5 very interesting videos on my page. I'm old school, I wrote them down so I didn't lose them (any avid Tuber knows how easy that is). Very glad I found this. This "container forging" seems to have infinite possibilities. I bet some small and medium sized gears would make for an interesting pattern. Addition of carbon would be easy too. Excellent craftsmanship and that was 13 minutes of pure enjoyment.

well for years i have been intentionally avoiding any material going into canister Damascus that isnt steel, specifically to avoid contamination. then i see this video and some guy do the same thing on Forged in Fire" and im like...is this common to do now? do all blacksmiths do this now? who is the first guy to be like "i know this will surely ruin hours of work at a crucial stage, but i wanna pour a big glob of something into my damascus, for no reason at all, whiteout seems fun, its probably made from zinc since its an opaque white paint with no metallic properties, thattle be cool." and then it just worked? i thought using galvi pipe was innovative because it saved me grinding the casing off. when i get my anvil set up here soon, im making canister damascus, dumping in a highlighter, some nails, some crushed up Vicodin for flux and quenching it in peanutbutter...cuz apparently the most random shit occasionally results in a nice blade. lol god i need sleep.

@LordDemosair9 жыл бұрын
polishavenger1 We were wondering (at least I was) about the air that was still inside. Since it's airtight, where does the air go? Yes, it's not combustible but compressing it would increase pressure inside the tube. It'd have to go somewhere.
@cooperDG1239 жыл бұрын
Well the air would expand
@emorymyparentsnevergavemea58829 жыл бұрын

love your videos. I am far from any form of expert in regards to smithing but here is a trick I learned for straightening out metal in a vise so it won't leave any tool marks. to be 100 percent sure your welds r air tight you would have to fill the pipe up to the top with argon and suspend it right above a candle over night . even water can take a night r 2 to leak.
