In this video, I wanted to show a way of making a bag using chamois leather.
Leather can be quite costly, so you may want to use some cotton material instead. Having said that, for an older group, working with leather if very satisfying and will provide a long-lasting, and more treasured item.
In longer term programmes, a bag like this can be used for gathering tinder & keeping a fire steel; carrying the story stones; animal or plant symbols or creating a leather shield which can be decorated with memorable icons.
Understanding where materials come from helps us all to value what we have.
If possible, it would be a great experience to investigate how to process the leather from an animal or fish. I once created salmon leather and made a pouch that I still treasure.
You will need:
Chamois leather or other material
A hole puncher for leather or scissors
String if not using leather
A bowl or plate to make the shape
A pencil
