That would also work great using scotch-bright pads if you make the disks a bit bigger, nice work, hand made always works better than having to buy them. :)

While we are talking about make things, when you use the typical 2" angle grinder sanding disks of any grit, when the edges are worn and don't work anymore, cut them down to 1" disks and they will work like new again. Of course you will need a 1" disk holder, but it works. And I found that cutting them down is so easy on a bench grinder from the back side of them...

The tool usually is cutting before the center of the part, there i cut it behind the center

It was so that he could use the side of the platter to chamfer the end instead of turning the compound rest at that angle and use the tip of the platter. Definitely faster than having to reallign the compound rest (wich can be quite a pain in the neck) afterwards. He's a clever one. :)

Do you use the punch tool over metal surface? I always use it over wood/cardboard because i'm afraid of damaging/unsharp it It is safe for the tool to do so?

It's actually black plastic, never use it on metal as it will get dull just by one hit.

@@mymechanicsinsights Thanks!! That's a really big chunk of plastic!! The problem with cardboard or wood is that you loose a lot of "cutting force" when the surface gets "marked" by the tool. I guess it make sense to use hard plastic that don't mark as much and don't hurt the tool also

my mechanics insights I love restoring my metal detecting finds and I've always found myself in need of something that wasn't as harsh as a stone, but smaller than a flap disc, for use in small spaces. Not extremely small spaces, but I think you get the picture.

Hello my good boy! What brand "polishing/drilling/hobby tool" is the one shown in the video? I use a Dremel brand hobby tool, but you need to use a wrench to secure the collet. Yours looks more convenient. Cheers!
