When you put the sleeve in use concrete around it to stabilize it. But when you set the flagpole use sand around it from bottom to top. If you ever need to remove the pole just vacuum the sand out. I run a crane and often set flagpoles for a company and that is exactly how he installs everyone . I have set anything from 50ft to 300ft for him and the process never changes. Also you only need to pickup just past half way up the pole and make sure you tie a rope to your strap at the loop to get the strap back down the pole once set. Also the loop I referred to is when you choke the strap and tie the bottom end of rope close to the lower end of pole out of the ground.

what's wrong with shooting from a vehicle? (assuming you're parked in legal spot that you own/have permission to hunt). We used to go "check the field" all the time... not talking about road hunting from public roads...

As a retired professional hunter and outdoor writer I can very easily say. The DNR for the state you are hunting in defined what is and isnt "hunting" in your area. Never listen to anyone that doesnt hunt in your area that tells you what is and isnt "hunting". Most of the time it comes from people that either dont hunt or have never hunted at all! You hunt the way you enjoy it! As long as its within the legal guidelines of your states definition of what is proper. They are the ones that manage the "heard" in your area!

I think it would be neat if Mike had more mini cabins on his property as big as it is. It's so cool to be able to watch and take pictures of wildlife, as you don't get to see that in the city's. When we lived on the farm we had a doe that we fed out in our Grove and she had twins at least 6 years in a row that I know of and I eventually was able to get within 10 ft of her as she could see that I had corn for her.

If you only have 14 acres of woods and 26 of tillage ground along with one leg, a ground blind is great, and elevated blind is even better. We have to wait for deer to move through our property. Thankfully the creek, oaks and crop land allows or that. I've done my time in a ladder stand, putting on drives and still hunting. A dry place to sit and a little heat is the reward for a those years of being wet and cold. Elevated blind is going up soon.

I have to apologize - I stopped watching the video for a minute or two so I could watch a really impressive buck walk along the terrace about 250 yards away. Couldn’t count points but way outside his ears when I could catch the morning sun glinting on his mains. Wider than any and likely taller than almost any of the 14 racks hanging in the cabin. I sure hope he retraces those steps next Saturday morning! He would have been inside 100 yards of my stand. Good to see you continuing to build out your vision for the NRPC. This made it a good sunny and frosty All Hallows day here after lunch in Sweden! Nice intro edit and music too. The best time to do excavating, but not landscaping, is in wintertime here in Sweden when you have a decent freeze in ground, so don't say you can't do digging work all year around, Mike. Especially in ordinarily soft and wet places as pond or shoreline work. I do nearly all forest road building in wintertime and under snow you don't have deep freeze! ;D

Back when I was a young boy, while construction workers were busy running their equipment and I watched. Then they were gone for the day or for lunch I would operate some of the equipment and of course would get caught. And now that I'm older I don't own equipment except for a tractor. But I still like to watch excavators and other equipment being run. I don't know why that is. We would let them sit for a year so the weather would wash them down. Then I would take my 14 inch McCulloch and trim the roots. He was kind enough to have a five gallon bucket of wedges (every size, shape and length). I would spend a coupla days a week, all summer and early fall, splitting those darned stumps with wedges and a sledge hammer. Boy could I swing a sledge. Never made much of a difference in the amount of wood we had for heating, but in true Dutchman form.....It was free!!!

Mike the people who are complaining about the mini-cabin and this form of hunting have never hunted. This is no difference than a tree stand but with more comfort. Most of the people who complain do nothing but complain. I have found that people who complain complain about everything and they are lonely people because no one wants to hear it anymore. You are a doer and it doesn't make any difference how you do your projects it all works out and turns out great. Complaining does no one any good, destructive and not constructive. I have heard you ask many times for comments on how someone would do a certain thing and you get advise and you take some of it and discard others, that's the way it works and if someone gets their feelings hurt because you didn't do it their way, well tough. They can start their own You tube video and see how many people complain on how they do it.

Mornin' Morgans. Short comment:. Haters hate. That's what they do. Block them. Love the cabin in the woods. A little "Oasis" in the back 40. Best to all.

Love the condo. Mine is 8x8 with a 4x8 porch metal roof and windows. Nothing like being warm and dry.

Mike, Your camera work is really nice. Lots of different views to see your little projects. I'm blown away by all the KZbinrs drone shots. Imagine what it will be like in ten years.

Since watching you tube there are a lot of negative people out there. The little cabin you built I think is great considering some of the shacks I’ve seen some that have been built also the ones you can buy so do what you want and makes you happy. I’m 57 I had a stroke when I was 55 I lived to hunt now I can’t wish I could so enjoy

Don’t sweat the grouchy people, they might be a trifle envious. I’ve got a smaller version nearly done and the only complaint I got was when are you going to finish putting the windows in so we can run the heater 🤣

It would be very funny if you moved Bigfoot neer the house looking a window.....in the night secretly of course but of course being careful not to make him fall through the window.
