@@SDGCustomLurecraft thank you Adam, she’s getting better. Actually this was her second tear on the same hip labrum. I have experienced what you have with normal size chatterbaits. The split ring size will affect the startup. The closer the blade to the head the more engagement, which you saw. The Chatterbait blowing out, I think has to do with the hydrodynamics of the soft plastic. For me trailers that are symmetrical from top to bottom cause and even amount of drag. When say, a top fin from a fork tail bait is removed, it caused my chatterbaits to hunt more. I really enjoyed this video. Adding powder paints to plastisol I found very intriguing. Excellent video Adam.

perfect thanks im going to do this since i already have that jig mold. by any chance you know of any long shank sickle hook that will fit in the bat mold? i cant seem to find any with a 35 degree bend. do it only shows the recomended 785 wacky jig hook which is a little short for my liking. will a 60 degree size 4 and 2 work without bending the hook?
@SDGCustomLurecraft2 жыл бұрын
Not sure on the longer sickle hook, but for the 32900, neither had to be bent. The drilling was different on the larger size 2, but it was still an easy mod!

I would like to try some bladed jigs with smaller blades and bigger heads, hoping to make a jig for the saltwater. I think just a little vibration might be better than a lot in some situations, like clear water with wind.

Hey Adam, have you dug in further on this build? I just found this video in your playlist and I would LOVE to make some of these for crappie fishing down here in Lake Okeechobee. Down here we would probably be using a little smaller profile though..... probably a 1.75in or 2in slayer type bait. I personally have the FGF BA Stinger Tail 1.75 mold. I'm curious if you found any details or niches that improved on this build? Thanks!
@SDGCustomLurecraftАй бұрын
Thanks for watching! Sad to say, after seeing the performance on a 1/16oz head, it became pretty clear that, even with the plastic, it just wasn't enough weight to "keel" the bait, so it would roll over and kill the blade. I only make them with a 1/8oz head now, which works really well. One option, off the top of my head here, is that you MIGHT be able to wrap the shank of the hook with lead wire, sufficient to keep the small head and small hook, but add weight. Now... a 1.75" bait won't be very thick, so the added wire may be too much/too thick, but it is something to consider. Another option would be a 1/8oz Tungsten head with a small hook... but you'd be buying those off the shelf somewhere and finding one with ah flat-eye hook may be a bridge too far. Sorry I didn't have better news!
@OnlyJigsFLАй бұрын
@@SDGCustomLurecraft I appreciate the info and advice! You have taught me a lot about bait making in the short time that I've been doing it. This is my 3rd crappie season not having to buy any crappie jigs. I started out tying them, then started pouring jig heads, then started making the plastics. Now I can't stop bahahaha

LOL, never any "competition" worries, the more the merrier! Yeah, every plastisol has an odor, even the "Bait Plastics 242 Low Odor Ultra Clear" that I use. Good ventilation is a must. Some are far worse then others, but they all smell a bit.
