I've been watching a lot of bandsaw box making videos over the last 24 hours. I think they are really "sanding boxes" that happen to be cut out by a bandsaw. ;) I love your video. Thank you for sharing.

Electra Beckum band saw - I use one of the same producer - BAS 250 model. And I am impressed by the way you manage to do a beautiful piece of art with some very basic tools - small bandsaw, drill press and sander. Great!!! Beautiful! The simple design shows off the wood perfectly! You have many different sanding devices that attach to your drill press, as well as others that don't. It made me wonder if one could use a metal woodworking scraper on some of it.

Kasey Hendrickson It's cut from the root of an apple tree.

HI! Good video! Easy to view. How long did you let your root sit out to age or dry? Or did you chain saw it after it was newly pulled up? I am experiencing my wood crack if it sits out to long! I do live in the high desert of Arizona. Have you ever made a box out of raw wood? That was a nice piece of wood root, interesting how wood looks so different on the inside after you cut into it! Very pretty, reminds me of ice cream.~Suzanne

@FabiansTinyWorkshop9 жыл бұрын
@gunterschone84029 жыл бұрын
@FabiansTinyWorkshop9 жыл бұрын

Nice project. I may try to make something like that. Why was the planer necessary? (I do not have one) It seemed on the video that the wood had a lot of burning spots (dark brow to black) where you cut it. Why? (dull blade not dry enough wood or not enough powerful motor or another reason?) Thanks for sharing.
@FabiansTinyWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The root wood was extremely hard and the blade was dull, that's why there were so much burn marks. I used a planer to remove the burning and sawmarks. It's faster than sanding. But you only need a bandsaw and a sander.
@hansdegroot85497 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your quick answer. I really appreciate that.
