Casey Putsch offers to mentor a bright young man on automotive engineering to help get him into a mechanical engineering school by finishing the IndyCar build. Genius Garage sold their BD5 MicroJet display to pay for the engineering project.

The Bede airplane is cool. But it really is the right thing to do selling it. It serves no purpose or value hanging from the roof (thought it did look cool hanging up there and added to the atmosphere of the garage). But converting it to resources for other projects is wise.
