Nice departure from turning. Great work. I have made several butcher block boards. They are time consuming, but extremely rewarding, when you see the results. I have never done one with an inlay, great touch! I see a comment "I'd be afraid to use it".. Oh, I am honored to see mine, still being used, today, by the folks I've make them for. They look great, even with the bit of ware, from use. Of course, if used, care must be taken to clean it properly, and condition it once a year, with the right oil.The 1st one I made was about 20 years ago. Still in use and looking pretty awesome. My brother is its' owner, and he is a professional chef.

My hand eye coordination sucks so I would have made a template for the cross recess. Your hand eye coordination is obviously better than mine. Well done. Excellent tip about sawdust recycling.
