This came out amazing. Beautiful colors and explosive pattern. I am very new to tie dye but have learned a lot from all your videos. I tried my very first tie dye project yesterday. It came out terrible. But I’m still very happy with it. I knew my first attempt wasn’t going to come out the way I wanted it to. But I am not giving up and will keep trying. Who knows maybe one day I will be able to creat something almost as beautiful as yours. Thank you for all you have shared. Much respect.

Love this! Do you get a much better result using powdered dye vs the regular store bought dye?
@FunEndeavors4 жыл бұрын
I haven't ever tried the store bought dye. At least not for a long time - about 15 years ago I used the Tulip dye a couple times before I started buying from Dharma Trading Company. The Procion Fiber Reactive Dyes are great - they are very vibrant and won't fade. I honestly have got shirts that are 15 years old that look brand new. The fabric wears out before they fade.

Fun Endeavors thank you so much for your response!!! Already a huge fan. I’m currently soaking a hoodie in soda ash to dye. One last question- is it way better to way until the sweatshirt is completely dry to dye or is slightly damp better?

@@torynlooper5254 Thank you so much - I appreciate you watching! I usually wait until the sweatshirt is dry to add the dye. I think I get better color saturation that way. I don't know if you've seen any of the later ice dyes that I've done where I use cake molds to make an ice barrier? - I love the cake molds.- I kind of made due with what I had to incline this one, but I made another inclined sweatshirt recently using the cake molds and it was much easier. With the latest sweatshirt I didn't have to use the plastic cutting boards underneath and I also didn't have to use as much ice. Here's a link to the video if you'd like to see what I mean. I put a link to the cake molds in the description for the video if you'd like to see what they look like. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2K7iH6fiNFjnZo

do you rinse the soda ash out?
@FunEndeavors3 жыл бұрын
Not until I have dyed the shirt and allowed it to process. The soda ash raises the pH and is necessary for the Procion Fiber Reactive dye that I use to bond with the fabric. So it has to stay in the shirt/hoodie until I'm ready to rinse it. When I rinse the shirt, I begin in cold water to rinse out the soda ash before I warm the water up to hot to rinse out any excess dye that didn't bond with the fabric.

I bought this one in the Men's section of JcPenney. It is an Arizona brand.
