Been working as an illustrator/designer for over 10 years now. I’d say how you feel about your work ebbs and flows. It gets challenging when it feels like everyone around you is hopping the same trend or like everyone’s creative blocks are syncing. But at the end of the day everyone’s just doing their own thing. Love your work and videos!

thank you so much for sharing!!! this is so real, everyone is truly doing their own thing and I need to remember that more often hehe

I love this ❤ I found that I needed to literally isolate myself at coffee shops every day in order to force a habit of drawing. My partner would drop me off at a coffee shop pretty far from home and then I'd draw all day and he'd pick me up after work. And I have to say... I drew A LOT. I made enough art for my first shop launch and it's been amazing. I also quit my job and have been using my savings in order to do this because I can't balance two things at once, it's all or nothing for me 😂

Ive too have had those moments where I question if I'm passionate enough. I've also realized that it always starts when I compare myself to others, especially those that are on such a different journey or have been working longer than me 😅 but now I just focus on doing me! Thanks for talking about this and sharing your perspective! ❤Listening and watching this video was a nice reminder to not compare ourselves and be happy with our unique personal paths!

It’s so easy to get caught up in the imposter syndrome ideals. On socials you see all the highs of people’s artwork, all the things that work. But we personally know all the lows we hit daily, so our idea of every other artist gets jaded. Keep growing and know you are where you are supposed to be.

I totally relate to the ebb and flow of your relationship with art. I’ve been a full time designer for over a year now and have had to accept that it’s normal to not be really eager to do design/art outside of my 9-5. Art feeling like work doesn’t make you less of an artist. And it’s natural for our enthusiasm to be different for a hobby vs. a job!

Omg I SUPER relate to “not feeling passionate enough”- and that feeling always comes from comparison. Especially when I’m on my period too!! ebs and flows mannnn, hehe. You’re doing amazing and you’re such an inspiration to me and so many other artists! 💜🩵💚

the corner you really loved, when I looked at it I saw a shadow of a black cat. I have a tuxedo cat too. I am trying to get at least my prototypes ready soon. working toward a new christmas market in november. this one is more geared towards children and families that I am used to. I make ornaments in leather. just finished some Hello Kitty and moving on to a gingerbread cat. inspiration comes and goes. that is when you need disciplin, which I havent got!

I too am not a fan of tasked-based assignments and I really rather set perameters for myself instead (if anything). I love to realize that like you said everyone has their own creative process that works for them. I am really excited by mine even if it looks different or slower or simplier from other creators, its what cultivates joy in me, and art making is ritualistic to me. also ive had shocks before where I realised my subject is almost always the same, and with the fast-pace of social media, I felt expected to show more variety- then JUST like you said, I had the same realization that the greatest artists often studied the same subject for years at a time if not through their entire career. I thought ive only been drawing like this for about 2 years and if its still what im called to draw, then I just haven't exhausted it yet- then I felt inspired to tackle the "same subject" even more than before since the itch is not scratched- and who knows when or if it ever will be! and then it actually became exciting to me, the fact that I even had something specific I was so passionate about to be able to explore 1000+ times 😹 I lovedddd the border effect! super cool quality. the cover turned out adorable :-) sorry for the long rambly comment- the artist urge to have convos about art- is lacking from my personal life these days since leaving college 🥲 loved the video

yessss!!! thanks so much for sharing, i like how you described it as an itch needing to be scratched!! I feel the same way about drawing cats and stuff - like I'm still not bored of it and want to explore it more :) and love how you describe art making as ritualistic!! such a good way to think about it. and never apologize for a longer comment - i love reading them

(This is in almost no context to the video but I'll share it anyway lol) I have this weirdly specific memory of my elementary school teacher being SUPER particular about the way we hold pens (like life or death there's only one right way) and when I write a lot it pops into my head occasionaly and i get worried like "oh no i keep holding my pen wrong" lmao (as an explanation to why i look at the way people hold their pens) but i feel like all artists i watch have the same pen grip (having the middle and pointer finger on the same side of the pen instead of only one finger per side of a triangle if that makes sense) and there's not even any good reason why my elementary school teacher was so particular about it! It just needs to be comfortable!! So yeah, funny how people can have a permanent influence on your life like that huh

What a beautiful and relaxing art vlog. I love watching these to get motivated or inspired. After I finish watching I always want to get to drawing right away :D Also it is such a nice thing to hear other artists share their thoughts or self doubts. It just shows that we all have these sometimes, no matter the skill level and no matter whether you do art as a hobby or a career. Thanks for the relaxed time I had with your video

How do you get such nice textures with acrylics? Is it the brand? Esp how the leaves in your flower piece how you can see the texture of the strokes! So beautiful! I use Holbein and it still comes out too “smooth”. Really appreciate it if you can share your input, but I love this video bc it’s so relatable esp the part when you talked about “feeling bad” alfor drawing the same thing bc that’s totally me.
