I’ve been around for a minute or two and been around trucks, tractors, and lots of different types of equipment and here to tell you it doesn’t matter after a few hours of operating it doesn’t matter the make or if it’s gas or diesel I’ve ran across pretty much all of them that mark their territory. I understand lots have their favorite motors, I like ones that a proven dependable and have a backing of serviceable and plenty of parts available. At the age I am now i can’t bend around tight corners and Charlie horses lock me up tight so I also look at ease of access to fix too. 😊

Yeah I’ve got 4 cummins and they all leak a little oil. 4b, 4bt, 12valve (p-pump), 6.7l. But there all easy to work on and service.

That engine oil filter is correct factory filter, Case-IH was a part owner of Cummins engines, and their filter division Fleetguard is the OEM for many companies including Deere, they are premium filters, use with confidence.

I've had the same thumb dilemma on several machines. The interference with the boom is not really about the thumb MFR making a "one size fits all" thumb, but more about the fact that the tip radius of the thumb must be made to match that of the bucket. In the case of your Hyundai, and that of most of my machines, is that the it is equipped with a coupler. The tip radius is extended due to the coupler, so the thumb length is increased to match it. The additional length of the thumb creates the interference with the bottom of the boom. If you want to blame an engineer, blame Hyundai's (or Cat's Deere's, etc.) for not factoring in the coupler when determining how much the stick crowds in. As it relates to what to do about it, most trim the center tines like you did. I actually welded to extend the center tines on mine (to match the outer tines) because I can't stand how the thumb performs when the tines are not the same length. Instead I welded a plate to the bottom of the boom and deal with the impacts when I forget to be careful. Yes, it's annoying, but less so (IMO) compared to dealing with different length tines. I'd imagine you've been using it a couple months now. How is it working for you?

In aviation you must safety wire your oil filters so they cannot come loose in flight. I have always hand tightened all oil filters...I never over tighten oil filters with tools...just hand tight...both on and off by hand.
