I just started my carbon fiber journey for car parts last year via designing and 3D printing compression moulds. Your words at 2:07 summed up my experience perfectly. A few things I learned are: 1. Never re use mixing containers with dried resin as you'll likely have a NASTY exothermic reaction that releases a bunch of fumes. 2. When it comes to clear coat, I'd highly recommend a 2k clear given this will see lots of sun and outdoor conditions. Be weary of the rattle can ones as they're just as nasty as a professionally sprayed 2k out of a spray gun. A lot of people say stay away from it because it absorbs through your skin and eyes, meaning you'll want a full body suit to be extra safe. At that point you may as well suit up and spray from a gun in a booth. 3. Carbon fiber + resin = sharp which you already found out. This is definitely an expensive, frustrating but very rewarding process. I get compliments on the shift knob, gauge pod and e brake handle in my car all the time, it's cool to know I designed and made them myself and they're 1:1. Can't wait for the riding videos in a few months!

I did the same thing for race parts on a Corvette, self taught, started simple, sent $$$$$ on material and mold chemicals, glass tops, vacuum pumps, bags, use the thin structural foam instead of a lot of layers of CF. One time in the shed was doing a big vacuum bad pull, but the shed was hot and the resin kicked too fast, vented nasty fumes, within seconds I was on all 4 barfing like a dog, be careful, I have CF stuff if you want it, just pay for ship
