We grew up on graham cracker pie! I am almost 70 years old, was raised in small town West Virginia in a small farming community. Always had fresh farm eggs and fresh cows milk. So my grandma made hers just slightly different but still the basic recipe. The local restaurants always served graham cracker pie. Oh it's so yummy!! I moved out of state decades ago. I wonder if it's still served in my area? I need to make myself a Graham Cracker Pie! Thanks for the memories!!

My mother in-law is 89 and showed my wife how to make it many years ago. She uses a couple of different items but very close. Our kids favorite dessert, mine too. Also, it is in Better Home and Garden under Vanilla Cream Pie. Cute Grandma!

Thanks to you and your Grandma for sharing this! I was searching for Graham Cracker Pie recipe online. I remember this pie was a big deal when I was a kid, but have not heard or seen it for years. Thanks so much! I will attempt to make this soon... maybe even for Christmas!

Your grandmother is just the sweetest 💗💗💗 I love graham cracker pie, my mother always made it for Thanksgiving and Christmas and it was my favorite. I have never attempted to make one but now I am inspired. You are both very sweet, sending hugs 🥰

I love making these pies! I have a recipe a lady shared with me that I use that’s very similar! And I see this is in WV because I recognize Tolleys! I was just there last week getting music.

What a great video...maybe my favourite that you've done. I don't know if Wanda has ever been in any of your other videos, but this is the first time I'm meeting her. What a wonderful woman, she seems so warm and friendly....and what a beautiful smile!! And what a big smile your Grandpa has too...he obviously loves his graham cracker pie. ❤️ I loved her story about the pie socials. I'm imagining all the boys buying the pie from the girl they liked. I've never heard of graham cracker pie, but it looks delicious, and I definitely want to make one. I appreciate that the yolks and whites of the eggs are all used...I hate recipes that only use one or the other and I'm left with a bunch of eggs or whites that I have to use up somehow. Question...do I wait until the custard has cooled down before I put the meringue on?
@Rachel_Pence3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Terri! :) and no, you put the meringue on while the mixture it still hot. Thank you! Hope you enjoy 🥰

This pie was first made by the farm-wives of Saskatchewan Canada in the 1920's and its official name is Flapper Pie. It is, in my opinion, the best pie ever made.

Looks like my great-grandmother's recipe (from the 1880s). They did not have food blenders. She used a pastry cutter for the crust and only had hand beaters for the filling.

In recipe it says add half the milk .. when does the other half go in ? Or did I miss something thanks it looks wonderful
@Rachel_Pence2 жыл бұрын
I just put the rest in the pan, and mix whatever I had in the food processor, if your food processor is large enough you can put all the milk in. :)

🤣 That's not good, it happens to everyone at one point or another haha. The day I learned my lesson was when I put tin foil in the microwave, it was sparking!

The title is misleading. I thought the filling would be grahams. It says "Graham Cracker" pie. If you were told you were about to eat a butterscotch pie, would you expect the crust to be butterscotch, or the filling? What grandma made was a basic generic cream filling. I make this filling all the time. Add 5 tbsp of cocoa powder, you'll have chocolate cream pie, 2 sliced bananas, banana cream pie, 1 cup of shredded coconut, coconut cream pie etc.
