Awesome jobs Shawn. Having been stuck out of Canada I'm really missing all the seasonal changes this year, so thanks for allowing me to live vicariously. I always think of ponds as living organisms, they clear,they get algae, they clear and then get muddy...never static, always something new.
@tonyn31234 жыл бұрын
I am glad you addressed the pond. Last video I noticed it had cleared a lot. It's just part of the process. As the side slopes vegetate, it will not get as cloudy during rains. I think you did a really beneficial thing (by digging the pond) to help you on the homestead. This should also allow the use of a pump to water your gardens. Endless uses.

It is such a great thing to have that saw mill to cut your wood for the work shop. You work so hard,and you do it all by yourself. Realy talented. You came from heaven with your gift. Blessing in everything you do. Your wife and kids must be proud of you. Living where you are, is so quiet with that fresh clean air. We here in the Bahamas our out Islands are nice and fresh. It is better than the city in which I live. We always take a visit there and enjoy the beauty and clean air. Whatever your hands touch it is bless. Blessing to you.

I couldn't tell if it was loud, or see if he was wearing earplugs? We had a large circular old saw mill that we did all our logs for burning on, no furnace back on the farm. The decibel level on that thing going into a log was just shy of ear bleed.

With a lite sprinkling of snow on a hillside I watched my grandfather fall timber and a team of horses pull out the logs to a clearing. Grandad could look at a standing tree and tell you how many board feet of lumber the tree would yield. That was around 1960. My grandparents farm is a memory I will always deeply treasure. They were what I and many would call successful farmers. The reason for their success they pulled together like the team of horses.

oh Shawn - I was so hoping you could get your own bandsaw mill for your homestead.... you will succeed so much quicker because you're not getting any younger and having some mechanical help along the way, is still being self sufficient. I mean this in the most kindest of ways. The benefits to having your bandsaw mill will be awesome, just think of all those shavings for lining your garden bed too and for bedding for your chicken coup, when you get it made and have laying boxes for your laying hens.

Thank you very kindly for showing us the mill. Anyone who likes wood... seeing the beautiful grain of wood... can well appreciate the wood that you are cutting. I know that it goes a little against what you are trying to do in the wilderness... as far as keeping the noise level down. And just being able to hear the beautiful sounds of nature. But, I really appreciate the utilization of all of the dead standing wood you have. Once the banks of the pond get vegetation on them... and the mud quits running into it... the settling process will be minimized. And winter will do a good job of that to. I am glad that you got restocked up on arrows. It makes me want to go out and buy a mill... just to see the beautiful wood grain. That 2 inch slab that you took out... was so nice. If people only knew what that was worth. Busy time of the year coming up. I am so glad that you have the outside kitchen to do all of the food processing... from all of the garden produce you got this year. I think I figured out that you are going to catch all of the rain water off of the greenhouse for water. And that will be good. Don't be concerned about being to technological in the bush. We enjoy all the aspects of what you are doing there. Thanks again for showing the mill.

I'm so excited for you and your mill, I have a couple buddies who are doing their own timber farms, and its amazing how these mills pay themselves off so quickly. Your demo video was well thought out and showed us the whole process. Oh the possibilities! Same with your pond, you seemed so concerned when you built it, at some point it is going to be so clear and everything you wanted in your vision for it.
