I like the exhaust tip as you have it. Thought you could put out the 2 downpipes under it for some cool effects. But that would be looking like 2 balls with a d... LMAO. Always a fan of your fab videos! Comments/questions: - If you can get away with a hater pipe like that out there without any hassle then leave it sticking out and keep the body clean, around here you'd get pulled over instantly if you tried to run it around the block and a lot of tracks would have a problem with it, so in that case, I'd cut it flush so it didn't draw so much attention. - Flex pipes have gotten more reliable in recent years, I used to avoid them like the plague. I typically have done one of 2 things: If it's a smaller pipe, in the 2 to 2.25 or so range, I've saved a bunch of factory GM ones from the mid '90s and up hydroformed stainless exhausts (I've never seen one of them fail), be aware that they're weird sizes like 2.1 and 2.3" because the hydroformed tubing changed sizes like that, otherwise, if I couldn't find anything in my exhaust pile I just use and overlapping, unclamped and unwelded slip joint where I would put the flex- rarely it will make a little noise on cold start-up, but as soon as it starts warming up the inside pipe expands more than the outside and seals up but still allows for some motion. - What is your back purge setup, do you have a second regulator and run some minimal pressure or do you just Y off the output of a single regulator? Maybe show it in a video? - Have you shown the collector jig that you mentioned anywhere? - do you hang out on any fab groups, forums... to get ideas?

Man you are building a beautiful race car. As far as the exit pipe goes I like the full elbow "bull horn" preferably on each side but that's not always feasible.

Lookin great Hayden... I prefer the flush with panel look for exhaust tip, but that leaves so little pipe for stable O2 signal. So either or on that one. but I reckon waste gates parallel across into turbine outlet could come out more trick looking than straight down dumps... Good luck if you have to go back & put flex in though, she's startin to get a bit tight for chopin straight 4" chunks out.. I'm sure you'll manage either way.. I'm lovin the quality finish. cheers from Aus'

I like the exhaust how you have it now man. Looks serious. I'm a fan of dumping the gates next to the exhaust too. Have you considered adding a silicone coupler with t bolt clamps? That would give you the little bit of flex you'd need and wouldn't be an issue with boost yet. No room on the shorter hotside pipe though..
@BassManBobBassCovers4 жыл бұрын

Car's black, wouldn't worry too much about soot. I like wastegates dumped into the exhaust. Also, since Raceweek is on my mind, and I think you talked about doing it next year, maybe think about an option to dump all the exhaust behind the passenger compartment for the long drives? Bigass removable sidepipe maybe? Great job man, looks outstanding!

I prefer the flush cut exit myself but it doesn't look bad at all sticking out like you have it. I would love to see one of those baffles that you can put inside and take out of the end to cut down on the noise when you're just cruising and not racing, the same way they do with desert racing buggies.

Just a thought ? There is some way to mount the turbo on a rubber mount so it is solid but moves just enough to cancel out the vibs that cause the cracking of welds . Fist thought is a hockey puck , or a hinge. Anyway think about it You will come up with something your a smart kid. I am enjoying watching this build we didn't have all the shit you guys have today when I was your age.

Love your work, very clean and to think you're self taught on tig welding is amazing. I personally would do a clean flush cut although I'm not sure what the results would be on your fender paint! the car is clean looking as is. Hope it doesn't burn it at all.
@tylerrobertst-rob17314 жыл бұрын
Only downside of doing a single fender or bumper exit is that if you have enough flow it can push the car a little bit, especially if it's close to the wall. But she's looking good!!!
