Everyone has their way. I melt the butter and then stir in sugar and milk, then cocoa, peanut butter, then vanilla. Boil a minute, then add the oats. In that order. It literally takes about five minutes and they come out shiny and beautiful. They are a candy/fudge actually. My boys and I love em! My hubby will not eat them but He’s not right.
@GoMommaGo Жыл бұрын
I forgot to add that I add in about two tablespoons of real chocolate chips after the boiling stage because i think it helps the texture and boosts the chocolate flavor.

Hi there, I love no bake cookies! My grandmother always called them Top of the Range Cookies, we melt the butter, sugar, a pinch of salt, cocoa and milk, bring to a boil cook for 2 minutes stirring constantly. Remove from heat, stir in peanut butter until melted add minute oats, drop by tbl spoon onto parchment paper let set to harden. Also we use 4 level tbl spoons cocoa for double recipe. We do not cook it any further after removing from heat. I thought this might help so you don't have to fight with the butter trying to break it up and melt it. Your recipe is great for a small batch, I've always had to make double recipes bc I have a large family. The only thing I'd change is the amount of cocoa in a single batch but that all depends on personal taste right! Thank you for reminding me of these cookies I'm going to make some tonight!

I've made these using old fashioned oats and they turn out fine. You can also use coconut for some or all of the oats and it's delicious❤

@phyllisculbertson7396 Coconut sounds yummy too! Do you lightly toast it before adding? Or as it comes in the bag?

Little hint, use a sifter on the cocoa and cut up the butter = no lumps in cocoa and smaller butter :)
@barbarac8422 Жыл бұрын
I cut my butter into tablespoon sized slices so it melts faster and I don't have to fight with it by beating it in the pan like you're doing. It's just easier and quicker.
@preachercliff2091 Жыл бұрын
That's the way women do it... Sounds really logical...
@mabelregimal5407 Жыл бұрын
You could also take it out of the fridge to soften before you need it.
@barbarac8422 Жыл бұрын
@@mabelregimal5407 Yes, I do that too. Melts sooner when soft.

Either one is okay to use. My wife buys both kinds, I never pay attention, I just grab a stick of it, lol. Use whatever you prefer, it won't affect the outcome. Thanks for responding :)

And If I don't want the chocolate And just use the oats and sugar
@preachercliff2091 Жыл бұрын
YES, you can add a little extra peanut butter and do away with the chocolate and make no-bake peanut butter cookies (some people don't like chocolate)
@lh824 Жыл бұрын
Wouldn't it just be easier to melt the butter first, then add the remaining ingredients?

I don't know what to tell you. I did it live and I have made them more times than I can count and they have always done well. The only thing I can think of is that maybe you are at a different sea level? As atmospheric pressure decreases, water boils at lower temperatures. At sea level, it boils at 212°F, while each 500-ft increase in altitude causes a drop of about 1°F in the boiling point of water. At very high altitudes, more time is required for food to reach the desired internal cooking temperature.

This recipe is very good. Your teaching style and explanations were very helpful. The background noise, clanging and banging that occurred due to whatever your wife was doing was distracting and irritating to the ears. Would it be possible for your cooking to be the only activity in the kitchen while you are making your video? It would be appreciated.
