"More obsessed with the gear itself than actually playing..." Sometimes that feels like me with DJ equipment. Very interested in following along. This project combines my interests in DJ mixers and DIY electronics (mostly ergonomic computer keyboards). Don't feel even remotely close to understanding audio circuits to create my own, but still seems an excellent project to follow.

@@mixersinside I started DIY electronics as a beginner with keyboard kits that required soldeling small surface mount diodes, I don't feel it's impossible to overcome. More about the right tools and patience. Also if you were to opt to go open source with the design and allow folks to source our own PCBs, services can install the surface mount components pretty inexpensively. This is also a common route in the DIY ergonomic keyboard community.

I just want to make a Xone 92 but with the HPF/LPF/para EQ from the Model 1. And it'd be nice to have the balanced connections and DB25 snake from the Model 1. And a SPDIF/word clock so I can connect an E-mu XL-1 Turbo and a Roland XV-5050 or whatever. I should probably get a MasterSounds Radius.

Nice to learn little bit more about your background. Even though you already said no fx, I would love a send for each channel, I also wanna know a bit more of the summing circuit, It is a mistery for me how some mixers do it so well and others let room for improvement hahaha
@mixersinsideАй бұрын
@@fat_dubs I would love to know the scientific take on what makes summing good and be able to exactly name the qualities of good summing that can be exactly and repeatedly measured. So far my most used tool in this field is just ear and experiencing summing music instead of measuring this phenomenon. I will gladly think about the methods of measuring summing qualities and all the tips are appreciated.

I'd like to know, in more detail, the reasons why the Urei mixers are often louder (have more gain) than comparable digital mixers, and why despite its high output tne music is glued togetner by a quality that I have to call WARMTH. Evem when it was loud, i didn''t hear it lose its listenability. I wanted to TURN IT UP.

@@illbience1 you were probably saturating the output transformer and feeling the orgasmic effect of harmonic distortion.

please let it be a analog 4 channel rotary with 2 pre/post aux and dedicated returns(so 6 channels I guess), hp/lp filter with resonance per channel, 3 band eq, isolator, phono pre amp and line on all 4 channels, booth out with eq, rec out with volume control, master insert, high quality components and awesome sound. this would be the perfect mixer but if you build this It will probably be expensive AF and I won't be able to afford it anyway.... 🙄
@mixersinsideАй бұрын
@@nvp-music as I already mentioned in the video it will be heavily inspired by 1620 and suited for my taste. I'm a fan of more minimalistic approach. But it's not said that this is the only mixer I will ever make.
@Bigger-Circuitry-Bigger-SOUND19 күн бұрын
a desktop UREI, Through Hole (high quality components), send/return per CH, 3 band EQ per CH, master isolator and similar faceplate / graphic design (basically an ARS but better components inside) would be a winer in my opinion 🤷🏼♂️
@mixersinside19 күн бұрын
Can you please explain why should I use through hole components? Thank you.
@Bigger-Circuitry-Bigger-SOUND19 күн бұрын
@ well the market is divided in 2 segments Boutique (through hole, discrete etc etc) where the customer pay for human labour and pay for a desired quality and “exclusivity” and than Mass production (affordable surface mount products etc), unless you are not a big company like Behringer , Roland it make sense to refer you production to the first segment which is more niche but far more loyal and sustainable for one man or small company (one man company is impossible to compete with big corporations they can copy and replicate your SMT product for far more cheap that you can do), tho what big corporations can not do is to produce THROUGH HOLE products and maintain margins fir the same price of Boutiques, (if Pioneer would produce an exact copy of Condesa they would ask 10 000 or more to maintain sustainable corporate margins), tho BOUTIQUE companies are thriving (mixers, synthesiser, eurorack). this is from an economic sustainable business point of view. talking about my personal taste AUDIO ONLY THROUGH HOLE AND THROUGH HOLE ONLY never SMT CIRCUITRY for AUDIO DEVICES for me i would rather use just a laptop than any SMT. the Idea of bringing the 1620 as desktop and implemented with send/return/ eq/ iso like Condesa did with Bozak could be a winer key selling point 🤷🏼♂️
