I got all the supplies! I used Amazon but I'm hoping the mica pigments I got (63 and 6 chameleon) will be good enough to make beautiful colors like these! I'm just wondering, do you mix together like a normal color and a chameleon to get a color?

Really loving your content! So mesmerizing to watch. When creating watercolor paints at home, are these stable enough to be stored in metal tubes or do they have to be dried in pans?
@crafterine10 ай бұрын
They are good to store in tubes or pans. Either way, you can be assured that they work the same however I would add preservatives like clove oil to be sure of it 😊

Can you suggest any of the color shift pigments? I've tried 3 or 4 brands and not been happy?
@crafterine2 жыл бұрын
If you ask me, I've tried tons of brands and different sellers too. But I realized that, the more expensive Colorshifting pigment is, the more vibrant it shows u up. Cheaper ones have a mild shift.

These are Chameleon Pigments, which portray different colors depending on the direction of light falling on it. These are mostly used by Automobile companies

I see you added honey at the end.... May I know the reason and difference of it adding beforehand and adding it while making paints....kinda curious yk.... Btw, love your channel and now I can't wait to make some paints for me !!
@crafterine3 жыл бұрын
Previously, I used to add honey in the binder. Lately I've been experimenting with 2-3 drops of honey mixed with the pigment and I feel that it increases the flow of the paint and it also helps avoid paint cracking in the pans. Then again, if honey gets a bit much, the paint gets sticky. So you may need to find the perfect balance :)... I hope I answered your question
@nimralaliwala88113 жыл бұрын
@@crafterine yepp... Understandable thanks 💞
@gretchenbrianpaddock23563 жыл бұрын
How do you add just 2-3 drops of honey? Maybe my honey is much thicker, but it doesn't come out in drops. Usually blobs! so I've been avoiding honey, but maybe I just need to find a runnier one.
@crafterine3 жыл бұрын
That's alright. Generally I use Acacia Honey but then any organic honey can work. You can also use a measuring spoon to scoop a little honey and add it in. While mixing and mulling the honey would blend in :) I hope this helps :)
@nicoleshappyplace41763 жыл бұрын
Hi me again. Another question for you. In this newer video you are just adding the honey separately and not in the gum mixture. Do you also have the glycerin in the mixture? And is there a difference of when you add your honey?? Thank you for your time.
@cassiacana53353 жыл бұрын
The difference with honey is that it retains moisture much better than the gums and it tends to dry with a pleasant satiny shine. Unfortunately it tends to attract bugs while wet and even dry so you have to protect the work.

Hey, Seen your video Can I use any different powder or only mica powder works on it.. -? & how many days do I keep gum arabic in fridge..?

Hello, Im making my own color shifting watercolor... do you know why if I touch the dried watercolor on paper it fades if Im passing my finger on de paper? All the pigment fade away. Please help I added more binder and also I put less binder but it didn't work :(
@crafterine5 ай бұрын
Oh ! I’m sorry to hear that. If the pigment is not sticking to the paper, it needs more binder. The binder helps stick the pigment to the paper. If it’s getting on your fingers, it definitely needs more binder. When you rub a tissue paper and there’s no dried paint on it, till then you have to keep adding the binder. I hope it works out for you. Let me know how it goes.

While I realize that every pigment is going to be a bit different, I was wondering if you could give a really rough idea of how much pigment powder should be used to make a match of homemade watercolors. I've been considering trying my hand at making my own and I have literally hundreds of mineral eyeshadows I would like to experiment with, but I obviously don't want to waste a bunch by having zero clue how much to use.
@cassiacana53353 жыл бұрын
Hmm, given the average size of both I think 1 pan of eyeshadow would make 1 half pan or maybe a whole pan of watercolor. You just have to powder it and add the gum arabic solution in a drizzle as you stir. So you should get a decent amount of paint out of your collection!
@crafterine2 жыл бұрын
I generally start with a 1:1 ratio. However sometimes you may find it too watery, in that case add in more pigment. If it's semi solid-y , add in more binder with a dropper. After mulling it should have a smooth consistency and smooth finish on a paper swatch. That's what we are looking for. ❤️
@steveo15119782 жыл бұрын
What exactly is the binder made of? I am hard of hearing and cannot understand what you said.

The binder is made out of gum arabic, distilled water and honey/ glycerine
