Well Sandberg, you succeeded. And we can't wait for your future projects. Thanks for birthing this game.

Why did you wait 7 years to release your game? Watching the trailer from 2011, what took so much time to finish?
@OnDoubt6 жыл бұрын
The game took seven years to finish - it was done by one person, Konjak, on his own: he did all programming, tools, art, animation, level design, sound design, music composition, world and lore building, character design. This takes a while.

If you can afford it, buy 2 copies! This guy deserves the support... I've spent countless hours with all of his free releases, I'm glad to be able to pay for a full release now! Noitu love 2 was awesome and should have cost more. Awesome game

Really impressive work he does. It's crazy to spend such a long time working on something, and having to worry if what you like yourself is also what the people will like. I have been a fan of his work since I played Noitu Love 2 and Legend of Princess. I'm excited for Iconoclasts and having seen the gameplay from the trailers, I don't think it could disappoint me.
@OnDoubt7 жыл бұрын
+Anton Klinger I also met Stephan Hövelbrinks in Berlin, last year - he's the sole developer behind "Death Trash" (this channel also hosts a 30min documentary on him). He's been developing the tools now for over two years, and only recently started to produce the actual content. Crazy! Extremely impressive to me, these individuals.

Wow, seven years!, that's admirable, I've created some games alone, and for me it is very difficult to stay focused on the same project for a year, so I can not even imagine what it means to be with the same project for seven years, it has to be hard. Just for that, everyone should play this game when it's finished.
@OnDoubt7 жыл бұрын
+Miguel Angel Totally crazy, yes. Quite a long-term motivation! For what it's worth, Joakim also talked very openly about the downsides of his dedication, and how he encourages people to focus their social lives - by having weekends off etc. I'll release those parts in the podcast!

I remember playing Iconoclasts in 2012. It was my final year of highschool(in South Africa). I was taking software dev as an elective. I found the story and the effort that had gone in to the game to be inspiring. I didn't realise it was being made by one person.
@OnDoubt6 жыл бұрын
Right? Rather impressive, that little fact :))

This is one of the best developer interviews I have ever seen. Short, to the point, inspiring, and minus the interviewers interruptions. I absolutely loved Iconoclast and look forward to the next title the developer is currently working on.

I've been thoroughly enjoying these interviews, great work! In my opinion, Sandberg definitely succeeded in his ambitions with the game. I loved it! The narrative certainly caught me off guard with its increasingly serious and darker tone. Also, it's funny to hear him say that the visuals are not prioritized as much as the mechanics and writing when the art and animation is so gorgeous. Quit hogging all the talent!
@OnDoubt6 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! The channel is slowly coming together. :) Did you watch the clip of Stephan Hövelbrinks, the dev behind the amazing Death Trash? He's another one of these "solo devs" that I admire so much: kzbin.info/www/bejne/opuyimyVmsmtmqeba The editing is way slower than I'd do it now, but I didn't have my today's experience back then. Anyway - thanks for tuning in!

I only heard about this game and this guy a little while ago, and man, I wish I would have knew about him sooner. Iconoclasts already has my money and then some, Metroidvania games are one of my all time favorites, and this one seems so promising. I played the alpha and it's good on it's own, the full release only looks so much more promising. So many good games coming out this year and this is DEFINITELY one of them!
