Im glad she switched them out, butI don't think these are the perfect ones either. These would work well for a modern or even glam kitchen. I feel there must be something better out there to fit in with her rustic cottage vibe. The backsplash turned out great though!

Glad you changed the lights, I hated the vintage ones 😅 to me they looked like they were badly covered in tin foil to be more reflective, and the silver inside was way too cold for the kitchen, in my opinion.

I find the ornate hanging light a little strange the way the outside is matte white but the inside is so vintage and detailed.. maybe they would be nicer if something else was going on with the exterior??

Using a wider chisel would of made taking the old tile off a lot quicker. Those pebble tiles are beautiful, kudos to you doing all of this by yourself! Love it so far! Excited for part 2!

That screw in light bulb outlet thing is amazing and hard to find. It;s for Christmas lights mostly. Use your outdoor porch light to become an outlet for many strings of Christmas lights. They used to sell ones that were for a light AND an outlet but I think they are illegal now. Unsafe.

I had the outlet and light one on my front porch, with garden lights plugged in, for years. Loved it! Then the landlord switched out the fixture for an enclosed fixture 😢

For the plug/ socket converter I used it for my apartment balcony (that didn’t have an exterior plug) to hang string lights

You can also get them where you can still screw a lightbulb into the middle, then a socket on the side. I've used that for Christmas lights in my first place!

Re: the lightbulb plug thing: we live in a 100 year old house will no exterior plugs, BUT we have lights. So for things like patio lights or even Christmas lights, these babies do the trick!

Absolutely LOVE the pebble/stone look. I have the same thing with backsplashes: I mostly don't like ANY of them! I have such a picky taste, but I'm learning your design choices are super aligned with what I like. concrete is SO permanent though! you'd want to be absolutely sure that you would love it forever and ever, aesthetics and functionality wise :) plus that would be a waste of really good granite countertop :(

I think it’s the grout that doesn’t go. Before she put the grout I thought it matches pretty good, with the gray tone of the thinset showing. Sad because I love that backsplash.

That backsplash would be better suited if the counters were butcher block, one rule of thumb is when you have a busy counter do a solid backsplash like a subway tiles, if she would of done like a darker gray grout if might of been more successful

Here for ideas myself my now husband paired sort of busy counters with this exact backsplash. 😳 with whitewashed cabinets and darl tongue and groove ceiling and dark reddish stain on all the doors and trim. Yes you guessed it a hot mess all in 1100 square foot of space. Oh and don't forget worn saltio tiles on the floor with deep unlevel grooves. Wth man

Such an inspiration Becky!! I once screwed up putting up stick-on tiles and ended up pulling out the original tiles with it... I was able to glue them back on and grout them and everything, and I was wise enough to leave it well alone after that! wow that stone tiling came out better than I ever could have imagined, you absolutely KILLED it! it already make such a difference to your kitchen, and it instantly made me hate your counter tops less lol! I can't wait for part 2 and the final makeover - I think this could be one of your best room makeovers to date!

Tbh at first I didn’t think that stone backsplash looked good when she showed a sample of it from the store but the end product looked amazing I’m sorry for doubting the sorry girls 😆

The vintage lights would be bomb in a breakfast nook. This makeover is GOLD , I love the stone backsplash

I feel like it's going to look better with a different color on the cabinets but that tile just looks like it belongs in a bathroom to me. it looks a lot like the river rock tile people use on their shower floors

The counter tops look so much better with the new backsplash! You were so right that it was too green because of the green in the tile. Really gives me some ideas about problems in my own space. ✌️Thank you

I agree, the longer the video the better! I love seeing your thought process and planning and this style is like the main channel and the vlog channel together in one and I love that.
