Making SEA SALT Spa Cold Process Soap. Recipe Included, Ellen Ruth Soap

I'm using Coconut Lime Verbena from Nurture Soap in these fun Sea Salt bars. Colored with French Green clay.
These bars were inspired by Holly over at Missouri River Soap / @moriversoap
LOVE her channel! She shared a recipe for salt bars, that I've tweeked just a bit to customize it.
Basic Recipe:
48 oz Coconut oil
6 oz Castor oil
3 oz Cocoa butter
3 oz Shea butter
8.2 oz Lye
19.3 oz Aloe vera juice/ water
To this recipe I'm adding some Clays, Organic Colloidal Oats, Tussah silk fiber, Coconut Milk powder and fragrant oil.
PLEASE use cation and safety gear when dealing with Lye.
I love to create good for you, handcrafted soaps using the cold process method of soap making.

Hi Ellen! First, I want to thank you so much for making these videos, I've learned so much from you that has helped me on my journey as a soapmaker (and now small business owner!) Second, I was curious if you knew how well this recipe would work if you substituted the salt with sugar? I haven't been able to find anyone making cold process sugar scrub type soaps, but I haven't seen anyone say you can't either. Thoughts? Thanks so much, Cian :)

You are so welcome! That's a good question about the sugar, and I honestly have no idea... I do put sugar in my soaps as a lather booster, but that's just a tablespoon in the lye water... I would think it might caramelize during the saponification process and get sticky.?...

Josiara puedes usar la alo vera de tú jardin. Algunas personas la congelan y en lugar de usar agua. Mezclan la alo vera congelada con la sosa caustica. En este caso, ella la vierte directo a los. aceites

Yes, they need a full cure time.

with this much salt, I wouldn't add it before the lye. After trace is better for control..

I've not tried that, so I would recommend a small test batch to see if you like it.

Hi! No, they need the same cure time as any regular cold process...

Ola td bem? Nao sei se no Brasil tem suco de aloe mas aqui tem entao vc usa o suco como se fosse agua. Mas creio que vc tb possa fazer o seu proprio suco com o aloe do seu jardim, basta descascar tirar a polpa e bater com agua destilada, nao precisa ser congelada, espero ter ajudado apesar de ter respondido um ano depois lol.

Thank you! I keep my aloe vera juice in the fridge, so it's very cool, then add the lye just like I would to water. If I'm in a hurry, I'll put it in an ice bath...

Pink salt is great, but Epsom salts will cause sweating…

Can you add salt to any recipe? I have a recipe that works really well for my husband's problematic skin, but he goes through soap soooooo fast. 🤣 Hoping a harder salt bar will last him longer.

Yes, I think you can make just about any good recipe into a salt bar😉
