I absolutely love how useful his hand is in gripping and manipulating the mold. You don't see this kind of dexterity from other prosthetics.

He really should be in business making/designing prosthetics for many others in positions that would benefit from his help

The fact that you can still find things to improve and that you actually do those things till this day is amazing

Some day I'll get it just perfect. That'll last somewhere around 2 weeks then I'll have some random intrusive thought going, "I wonder if I can make it do X?" And that'll start the next chapter.

Your prosthetic always amazes me. I feel like over the years its improved so much, i mean SO much? Its so functional, its moves and adjusts itself so smoothly, it’s genuinely beautiful i mean man, its a work of art!!! You inspire me, i send love and good health

I know you like your hand more because you are actually using it. Sometimes I see you working without a prosthetic, perhaps out of habit. Now, you are fully embracing and taking advantage of its utility. This hand appears particularly refined, so it has so much more general applications by the look at it! Amazing progress

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe he tries to use his prosthetic as often as he can, but he removes it whenever he's around heavy machinery such as his lathe or milling machine. It would be terrible if his prosthetic somehow got stuck in heavy machinery like that, pretty sure he don't want to lose any more fingers, or worse... Safety first!

I've got a small question, have you ever thought of making some of the less important parts out of wood? might allow for some neat customization.

after being simply curious, and hearing about your story, i have become genuinely interested in your projects. as a professional wood worker, i have about a 2% chance of losing 1 or more fingers before reaching retirement age. when your design gets further along, and maybe even marketed, i would love to have the opportunity to get designs, or parts in the future. betting against my own risks as it is. until then, i will continue to support you, and your channel how i can, and keep watching your amazing and fascinating videos. your finger position isolation locking mechanism is mind-blowing in that, I've never heard of such a simple yet practical selection system on prosthetics before. thank you, and keep up the amazing work! the design is pretty cool too! i look forward to the future where this succeeds in a big way.

U inspired me back in the day (i was the middle schooler who asked what u went to school for to know how to do stuff like this) so I got into prosthetics so I made a design for a muscle but it wouldnt work well I found it again and well I perfected it It works (in theory) Although I am having some trouble with the 2nd version(it uses the same mechanism but does somthing different) it would work but only if I can figure out how to only have a electro magnet with only a positive feild (so it's not posible ☹️) so I redesigned it and well it would work u just don't think it would fit into what I want it to it would have to be very lengthy sadly Although thinking now I just came up with a new design I'll see if it's possible might be but it might be not as efficient but it would be effective 🤓 (Side note no one has made somthing like this yet well to my knowledge atleast) I'll keep u updated if u want

Just a question, nothing to be taken seriously, but why do you not make the silicone tips in concentric circles rather than gripping inward? Does the inward grip work better overall? Thank you. I like your videos. Keep up the amazing work.

I have a question I hope isn't insensitive. Have you ever accidentally "injured" your prosthetic because you can't feel it. Alternately do you use it to handle things that are too hot for your other hand?
@missingpartsclub
@missingpartsclub Жыл бұрын
So I have on both accounts. There have been many fingertips that have needed to be replaced because I tick them with the grinder, or say if I'm moving a sheet of plywood, I've smeared off the silicone outer. It mostly when I'm in a hurry and don't think to replace them with the more durable, less grippy tpu ones. As far as the hot stuff, ya, I've used it to pull food out of the oven. A couple of years ago I had a log roll out of the fireplace and I picked it up and tossed it back in. Got some good looks for that one.

May I ask a stupid question? LOL, guess I already did, anyways... In hindsight, if you had to do it all over again, starting from your initial loss of your fingers, would you have tried to get a mold of your original fingerprints?
@missingpartsclub
@missingpartsclub Жыл бұрын
Absolutely not, I'd use any ol random set of fingerprints i could find, and change them after every meniacle crime escapade I take part in. They'd never catch me!

Might not have caught it before, but how long do these usually last until you consider them 'worn out' or used up?
@missingpartsclub
@missingpartsclub Жыл бұрын
Really it all depends on what I'm doing. If I'm doing metal work, the silicone ones I don't last at all, for that I have some tpu ones that I switch to. If I'm doing just regular light work around the house, probably 2 weeks or so. The more grippy the fingertips the shorter the lifespan. Right now I'm using Alumilite silplat 25, I get better lifespan from silplat 45, but its not as grippy.
