Great ideal Randall. I just put sugar bricks on my colonies yesterday. Good looking honey house. Good luck this Spring.

I will be trying the same thing after our Summer harvest. Thanks for the idea, Randall

Thanks for the video. I make my sugar bricks with a shot of honey bee healthy and about half the water you used and just leave them in the honey house. They are ready for use in 2 days and smell great. I just made 20. It's due to warm up here so they will be eating more honey so I will be putting them on. Good luck with your bees.

Just a thought…once they get to the point that they’ll hold their shape, could you flip them upside-down and remove the foil pan? Then, maybe, the air flow around the bricks could help remove moisture a little quicker.

Thanks Randall for the video. This is my day to start making some and I had forgot how much water per 10 lbs of sugar. So now I know. Some people have put lemongrass oil in the mix also. Have you tried that? I know it's not necessary. Your bees should be bringing in pollen soon, right? Have a good one.

Glad that helped you. I have not tried the lemongrass. I would be concerned the smell could cause more robbing, I would have to test that to verify. Bees here have been bringing in pollen for about 2.5 weeks now. It appears swarm season will be 2-3 weeks earlier than last year.
