Making sure your Bootmod3 is safe!

In this video I discuss some things to take into consideration when deciding to load a tune for your BMW. The Bootmod3 tunes make great power, but the right one needs to be loaded to be safe.

I'm from South Africa and we use 95 octane fuel and was a bit worried about which map to load. But this cleared things up for me thanks. I live on the coast so we do not have access to 93 octane fuel which made me worry. But if all's well then I will go ahead and get the bootmod3 93 octane map.

Please make sure to check your octane rating well. To be safe run an 'ACN' map first. Let the bootmod app log to see if there is any knocking, then you'll know you're 100% safe

What about adaptive learning? I think bootmod3 resets adaptive learning on a flash. Might it be worth really considering the data logs after a few gentle miles on the most recent flash?

Hey Bob awesome video explaining the data logging and what tune to use regarding fuel availability! It was super helpful and managed to do some data logging recently. I noticed I had some knocks unfortunately… Do you have any recommendations on how to fix the Knock Detected issue?!? I am currently running the Multimap Stage 1 on ACN91 octane. I would very much appreciate your help 🙏🏻

If you are experiencing knock, try higher octane, if available, or a different fuel brand 91 or higher. If it's still knocking, and you don't have availability of better fuel, then the only options are to remove the tune, or add race gas to the mix to improve it. In Arizona I only had 91 available, and didn't have any issues, so you may have gotten a 87 octane batch of fuel somehow.

I flashed my B48B20A (320M pack) in Brazil. It s a stage 1 with 260whp a d 420Nm. I use a 105RON premium gasoline E25 with no issues, besides CR 11:1

With E25 you should be perfect! Just keep an eye on your fuel system...it's a little more corrosive.

I'm he same b48A engine 320i m pack also, have you done a dyno? I'm on 99 Ron fuel using the 93 octane map and I'm at 275 bhp and 435nm torque

@@ABGEFAHRENTV-cu2ol yea man, this engine is just the gen 1 b58 minus 2 cylinders, same ZF8HP50 trans aswell, if you put forged pistons in, your rod and camshaft already forged Do a 58 TU pump after stsge 2 to make stage 2 plus, custom tune it to put in more fuel, 3000 psi max to 5000 area with new pump, ensuring your fuel ratio wont be lean, do new pistons and turbo even new intake manifold and porr injection, your taking 450hp even higher if you upgrade/build up transmission

I'll give you me perspective...If it was me, I'd take the tune down one step. Alternatively you can add race gas or octane booster, but unless you know how to calculate, your guessing your octane. Best step is take it down a notch (If tune is 93, drop to 91)

Hey Bob, what an insightful video you’ve made! Just checked on my datalog that the knock is 0 when throttle angle is on 99%. Other than that, what else should I be cautious of? Btw, my G20 320i has flashed to Stage 2 91 octane (AGG) with OTS configuration.

If you have zero knock you should be able to enjoy the tune worry free :) Just make sure to always get the matching or higher fuel.

Hi Bob, I have a 2018 BMW X6 50i with 100,000 KM on it. The car is completely stock and I have been thinking of tuning it using the Bootmod3 stage 1 91 Octane flash. I am hesitant to proceed though because I am worried that the tune might cause the longevity of my cars life to decrease overtime as my vehicle is already in the 100,000 KM's mark and I want it to last as long as possible and keep this car for many more years. Would this be something you'd be concerned about if you were in my situation? or do you think that this tune will not cause a significant decrease in my cars longevity and reliability in years to come?

Sorry for the late reply...it's not the 100k km's to be worried about. If you drive very hard frequently, and more important don't let the engine get to operating temperature before driving hard, then yes you may not want to tune. If the forementioned is not the case, then nothing speaks against tuning. As long as proper maintenence intervals are kept, you'll enjoy the B58 engine for another 100k kms easily!

Thanks for this video, I just loaded stage 1 93 on my 18 440i, and I’m new to all this. Why on the gauges when I’m driving the knock has to zeros and sometimes it has a 1 green like yours shows?

The green numbers are items at which point the computer corrects. In other words, if the computer detects just 1 knock, it will retard the timing. This keeps things safe. Just remember to always fuel higher or equal octane to the tune...so in your case at least 93 Octane

Hello, how come I’m not getting the same power as you, in stage 1 just flashed and it just hardly hit 400 it looks like 380-390hp on the stock gauges

Depends on the fuel you are using. I was using the best I could get (100+ Octane EU) 94ish Octane US. Make sure you putting the pedal to the metal too. Which stage 1 are you flashed to?

@@bobmac1970 oh I’m pedal to the metal alright haha, pushing that thing as hard as I can. I posted some videos just got the car so starting to post some shorts… I’m stage 1 93 octane but again the car seems to peak at 400 maybe even like 390 it’s 100% not going over 400

@@f22_b58 I bet it's the Octane. I you have it available, add 2 Gallons of Race Gas to your full tank. See if that gets you over.

I just did 91 tune with 93 in the tank on my g30 540i and my gauges are going to 405hp and 425tq. Absolutely amazing stage two next week for sure.

I've found that with quality correct octane fuel, it's not necessary to vere off, unless major stuff has been done...ie bigger turbo, injectors etc
