Have you been to Mykonos? What was your favorite part or what are you looking forward to if you plan on going?

LOVE this!!! I also love the slow motion of the lemon on calamari and pouring of wine in glasses...also, despite the area being so touristy, your pics of the windmills turned out GREAT!! I usually only watch your Vegas videos, but am loving ALL your videos!!! :) :)

Sunday greetings peeps ! Mykonos is such a pretty island. Then again you can’t really go wrong in the Greek Isles . Santorini is probably my favorite. I think it was a bit windy when I was there as well . The food looked delish. Glad the ship docked …those tenders make me sea sick lol . Fun video as always 😎😎😎

As a Greek I believe that big cruise ships is the WORST way to visit the Greek islands. You may hire a sailboat or have a cruise with 10-20 people in a small ship, or do "island hopping" as tourists name it, using the the big amount of ferries.
@JoshRachael Жыл бұрын
That does seem like it would be the optimal way to do this, unfortunately we have a limited amount of money and time and this style works for us. Thank you for sharing
@eleniasimop Жыл бұрын
@@JoshRachael The "island hopping" style can be on a budget, especially if you choose the less crowded ones (Ios, Milos, Paros, Naxos etc) because I see that the backpack style tourists prefer it. Have a nice time!!!

Excellent!!! you visited a local vineyard, tasted wine, had local food, enjoyed the sights... which are more or less the activities that I enjoy doing the most.

Fellow travel creator. We were in Greece last September and went to Mykonos, and a bunch of islands. We loved the wine in Greece. We went to a winery at Crete. In Mykonos we went to the windmills and wandered through the streets (got annoyed) and then we spent some time at the beach club. Then we went to back to Mykonos town for sunset.

OMG, you went to so many places In Mykonos that we did. We walked our ass off looking for those damn windmills before finally making it over towards Little Venice. We were there on the Celebrity Equinox but we tendered in. It’s a beautiful island and we were lucky that it wasn’t as busy as when you were there. By the way, skip any and every wine tour with Greek wine. It’s just not good. We tried it in Santorini. 🤮🤮 You once again picked a nice ship. In Europe unless you’re a local, the ship is just a floating hotel to get you from one port to another. By the way, very cloudy day here in Vegas. A few sprinkles here in NW Vegas. Thanks for sharing.
@JoshRachael Жыл бұрын
Shoot now we know not to do the wine tour 😂 luckily this was the only one we booked. We totally agree with your thoughts on the ship in Europe and viewed it as mass transportation and a room for the night, definitely didn’t do as much on this one but didn’t need to, Europe was the destination not the ship this trip

Thank you for the tour information. We will scratch this stop off of our list. Prices in Europe are steep as well. My Son and DIL took 5 of their 6 children to Italy for 5 weeks. They are enjoying the Lake Como area as their base and branching out on side trips. Italy seems to be more affordable and beautiful to tour. Keep Italy in your touring sites in the future.

That sounds awesome. We do end this trip in Venice and next month we will be making a few more stops in Italy! So excited

Mykonos is definitely not a family friendly destination. There are very beautiful places for family vacation in Greece. You may try Halkidiki peninsula with side trips to Thessaloniki and mount Olympus, Corfu island, Crete ech

Mykonos is beyond famous for being touristy and EXPENSIVE! At least Santorini has mind blowing scenery. There are dozens of islands that would afford you a more personal experience with better food. I would have checked out Naxos or Paros for a fraction of the cost, and a better experience. Also regarding the wine part, as someone who spent twenty years in the wine business, you guys don't strike me as particularly wine oriented. On the other hand, I did really enjoy your Athens video.
@JoshRachael Жыл бұрын
Thanks John. Yea we aren’t the biggest wine people but have both done a few wine tastings this one was disappointing unfortunately. We definitely would enjoy going to other islands in Greece but for this cruise had to go where it went . Next time!

we will be on this same RCCL excursion in May on the Voyager of the Seas. Did you travel to Mykonos Town on the Sea Bus as a group or on your own prior to the excursion? It seems like you enjoined your "own time" a little better than your excursion. Is thar right?
@JoshRachael9 ай бұрын
Nice hope you have fun. We did not do anything before the excursion started. Yes our own time was better for us. Unfortunately we got a little tired of just sitting in a bus and waiting in a group for the wine part

I just realized I didn't actually see either of you take a bite of the food. How was the hummus? The wine experience did not look amazing. Agree it's a pass on that one. Awesome vid! I'm off to Atlanta next week. Can't wait!!

Love your chanel guys. However I wish Mykonos and Santorini banned cruise ships since especially for Mykonos they are very destructive to the island and leave little income. Too small of a place to accommodate Royal Carribean mega ships and even worse when there is additional cruise ships docked that day which is usually the case
@JoshRachael Жыл бұрын
We actually wouldn’t disagree with ya, due to the amount of people and how crowded it was, this was our least favorite stop
@justme-fe2sf Жыл бұрын
Due to the crowds and really the short stop you didn't get to enjoy what Mykonos has to offer. Mykonos is for at least 4-7 days stay where you can go out, enjoy the nightlife, it has a very glam feeling, the beaches are gorgeous and very cosmopolitan. The least interesting thing about Mykonos are the windmills. Its all about the glam jet set destination,hence why it is stupidly expensive@@JoshRachael

It is a very sad and disappointing (probably disturbing to some people) thing to know that below the picturesque, romantic and allegedly tourist-friendly facade once loved by authors, painters, sculptors and people aiming to experience the natural beauty of this island that was a rather poor stronghold for pirates for centuries, today Mykonos has become a place where prostitution, drugs, alcoholism, rudeness and complete disrespect of almost any lawful behavior rules. Hotels, restaurants, beach bars and cafeterias charge exorbitant prices (usually without issuing any receipt), they employ young Greeks or illegal immigrants at monthly wages below (sometimes way below) the minimum wage, without any social security compensations and having them work 12-14 hour shifts 7 days per week treating them like slaves,, while beach bars and hotels occupy beaches charging ridiculously high prices for an umbrella and two chaise longues, forbidding people who are not willing to use them and pay for them from swimming in the beach (by Greek law all beaches are public and freely accessible to everybody). Much of the tourist economy of the island is in the hands of the Russian mafia and its oligarchs much of the supply of food, equipment and fuel a part of the building business is ruled by the Albanian mafia. Corruption runs high, as you can open any sort of shop almost anywhere if you have "the right connections" and you can build whatever you wish or can afford without feeling restricted by any building permits, Greek laws on the use of land or any public space demarcation. Local Mykonians, once happy and proud of their island, are questioning whether they are going to have the means to keep their properties on the island, are more and more threatened by the shady people that make Mykonos their summer residence and by the myriads of people landing on their island in the summer, as tourists seeing Mykonos as the paradise for heavy drugs, easy free and paid sex, wild partying and a chance to engage in any sort of extreme, unhinged nightlife "entertainment" of all sorts. Mykonos was recently characterized as the "Colombia of the Mediterranean Sea", if that adds a layer of description to the fast, sad and possibly irreversible disintegration of this very beautiful island. What a shameful waste!
