Great video! I love the washer trick. Just a rule that I follow, always replace the nylok nut with a new one. If the nylon is old or cracked it will fail.

Mike. Great vid. Love your presentation. One thing you can do with the kick assist bracket you made is to add “teeth” to it with a rasp file or grinding wheel then a file. It will grab your boot easier in wet/muddy conditions. The Tourtech has teeth. Make a video of you adding the teeth. I’m sure a few guys would love to know how to do it. Might get some good views on it.

Funny you should say that. I was on a trip last week and had that exact issue with my boot slipping a bit and I thought the same thing.

I went for a bolt on larger foot on my Pan Am. I don't have any problems with my side stand, then I have raised the fork clamps to the top of the forks, lifting the front end 1/2 inch. Made the steering a bit slower and the bike more stable on dirt roads, it is not as quick to turn on sealed roads, but doesn't take long to get use too.
@MikesMotorbikeChannel Жыл бұрын
yup, more rake = more straight line stability, less rake = faster, lighter steering.

Yo mike! Your were my PA BRC instructor. Great to see you continue to instruct as you were fantastic! I do have a question though…I don’t be know your full history or experience although I feel it extensive, but why did you choose the HD over the competition? Also, do you recommend a budgetary option based upon your experience?

Thanks for the kind words. I must admit, buying the Pan America was a bit of an impulse decision. I test road it when I saw it at a dealer and took delivery a couple weeks later. Prior to the Pan America, a V Storm 650 was my “adv style” bike, which I’ve sold since getting the Pan America. I still recommend the Vstrom if you want a more budget friendly bike with an upright adv style riding position.

Yeah, definitely turn your motorcycle off before you try to put your kickstand down. I didn’t do that the other day and I popped it in gear. Luckily, I was holding onto the bike.

Question on the jiffy bracket. Is the notch that the leg tilts into any tighter? It seems to me that as soon as the foot hits the ground and starts to tilt out, the leg should lock into the slot and be unable to move towards the back. I have dumped my bike over twice while parking. Each time I am careful to check that the stand is all the way down but I am suspicious that the bike is moving forward just a bit as I lean it over and the stand folds on me. So Frustrating!
@MikesMotorbikeChannel Жыл бұрын
From what I can see, only difference is the thicker part of the bracket. The “jiffy stand” lock portion seems to be identical.
@paulwojnar229111 ай бұрын
You can also use quarters or nickles in the spring. Its an old trick. Perhaps forgotten until now.
@stevejones31804 ай бұрын
did you have to remove the jiffy stand sensor as per the installation instructions for the adventure stand?
@MikesMotorbikeChannel4 ай бұрын
@@stevejones3180 to just install the adv stand, no. Perhaps they state that to prevent you accidentally smacking it with a tool while doing the swap?

Question raises why HD did and does not make the kick stand with the larger foot plate the standard kick stand. Can't be because of that little bit of extra metal..
@MikesMotorbikeChannel Жыл бұрын
Agreed, the adv stand should be the stock kick stand.
@RickoColby7 ай бұрын
I wonder if you can do a kickstand turn around (ie rotate 180) on the PA?
@MikesMotorbikeChannel7 ай бұрын
I’m not sure I’d trust it for that, especially with the “jiffy stand” design that allows the pivot pin to move up and down.

$20,000 and you have to pay more for the kickstand? I welded a big plate to the kickstand if my Goldwing. I cut the kickstand in half on my XR250 and found a tube that slid over and bolted them together. Lowering the XR necessitated a shorter sidestand. Big pad also so it doesn't sink into the mud.
@dancrawford1742 ай бұрын
Yeah, that side stand does suck!

Just bought 2024 PA CVO. After riding it home, parked it at top of driveway, got off to move another bike in garage to a different spot to make room for PA. When I tried to stand on left peg to mount the PA, it felt awkward, little unstable since I was parked perpendicular to the street which was sloping downwards from my right to left. Another words, I was parked on a sloping road, my kickstand fully deployed and weighted by the bike. So, I went to the right side of the bike to mount, placing my left leg over the seat, then pushing myself up onto the seat. When I did so, the bike quickly fell over to left, to the ground. The kickstand simply folded up enough to let the bike tip over. I was totally surprised, and have no idea why the kickstand folded up??? Any thoughts? Apparently this PA kickstand doesn't lock as firmly as the other Harleys do.
