I love Howl's Moving Castle, but Ponyo holds a special place in my heart. It'd be really neat if you could do the house from Ponyo on the hill, but from that scene where the water has already flooded up to the doorway. With the big toy boat at the entrance, obviously.

"How much is a trash sculpture" In the art world, what you create is called an assemblage. Considering it took you over two whole months to craft, all the work you did to put it together and paint it, Barring the paint, I'd say what you create definitely goes for a few hundred USD for sculpture. Just the complete castle looks like, if you auctioned it off, it would jump past 1000$ in no time. Your work and craft is legitimately amazing.

OH! I know this! So based on the pricing metric I was taught in college (hours worked + cost of materials + 25% for overhead = wholesale price, doubled for full price), assuming that you pay yourself $20 an hour for work, and it cost $100 in materials, the full Moving Castle should be worth around $20,250 It all depends on how much you want to pay yourself hourly, I was taught that a beginner might go for just over minimum wage, but with time and skill that wage should obviously go up. There's obviously a ton of time and skill that goes into this (it's so beautiful), so $20 would probably be the low end of that, I saw someone else suggest $45 per hour

Great video! I would LOVE to see you try and make the "Goliath" airship from Laputa. I imagine it would be a huge undertaking, but I'm sure you could do it. Looking forward to what's next anyway!

I'm at a loss for words trying to describe how wonderful your videos are. They're calming, funny, thoughtful, and inspiring, but specifically inspiring in the way that Ghibli movies are inspiring, where you walk away feeling so awestruck that you just want to change your entire life. Thank you for the incredible work you're doing, I really hope that it's bringing you as much joy as it's brought me

Me, in tears, in utter despair, as I laugh yet again at yet another of Studson's terrible puns: HE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT!

while the materials probably dont count up to to much profit, any artist will tell you that your skilled labor is worth alot! Make sure to value it!

Really cool build, your attention to movie accurate details soothes my soul from every other construction I've seen that doesn't 😅

To make the metal interesting, you could do an undercoat of various colours (like using the very last speckle of paint in a paint bottle that you dont have enough of to do much of anything else with) and then paint your base colour watered down overtop of it, and then dry brush. It gives it alot of tonal variation. For a suggestion- I'd love to see a sculpture of something from Princess Mononoke

I remember seeing this in my recommendations, I was then wondering “why the hell did this exist” Ended up watching the movie, I am now glad I did, thanks.

I genuinely would want this more than the finished one, I just think it shows a much more heartwarming set piece

I loved this one and the care for the little details like the uneven wooden planks, it really makes all the difference I'd love it if you made a plane because nothing screams Ghibli more than a flying object, so maybe one of those crazy planes from Jiro's dreams in The wind rises or Porco Rosso's seaplane?

These videos are always so cool! It's always more fun if the creation is something other than another building or house.
