I made it without heat treatment using hss. When making it with steel, it is common to make it sharp after quenching

I know that this video is a couple years old but do you have the link for where you found the longer hss bar stock on aliexpress? The longest that I could seem to find was up to 200mm. Also was the hook tool that you showed something that you made as well? Great video.

Far too short a tang in my opinion. And make a handle out of two pieces of wood glued together, wouldn’t be my method. Otherwise I liked the sharpening aspect of the video.
