Thank you, Fin! Oh the Tweeds! Oh the Inspiration Pictures! (Thank you for reminding me I am not a 1960s fashion model... I needed that... :)... back to reality...) Ah, the Ensemble. Dress + Jacket!

Wow, so many beautiful looks and thank you for sharing your experience and ideas. Different generation so I really like matchy-matchy but good to hear a refreshing perspective. As an Aussie too, I'll probably wear my first make with blue denim jeans, like you. But you've got me thinking about ordering some more fabric for skirts etc...

Thanks! I do love the suits, they certainly have a time and a place.

Great video. I'm wondering I an elastic panel could be snuck into the back of the skirt. White elastic can be dyed with Rit Dye more.
@PerfectJacketАй бұрын
An elastic panel is always good in the back of a skirt band but tweed is a bulky, unforgiving textile. Because you have to make two skirts for every jacket, so they age at the same rate, I would just make each skirt a slightly different style and/or size, myself. It depends what you want from your suit, I suppose.

I want 2 suits. The 1961 suit that Queen Paola wore and the suit that V and A has that Lauren Bacall wore. Might be different colors but I am working towards this.

I do love a tweed suit, they're beautiful but I'm just too much of a klutz to wear them, I think. I'm much safer in jeans, t shirt and a jacket. 🥰🧥👗💕🎀

9:39- in addition to using the netting as your structural layer in a tweed jacket, do you interface around the edges of the neck and front? Also, do you use interfacing for sleeve heads?
@PerfectJacket10 ай бұрын
I have videos where I show each step of making the jacket but no. When I make the sleeves I push the seams into the sleeve and stitch it down and that seam allowance helps get that beautiful shape; With the neckline I just clip the curve and fold an inch under, so it's not really facing or interfacing but it does strengthen the edge. I will hand stitch the silk lining in once the beading is done.

Plz comment on the type of netting to ourchase for the jackets…certainly not stretch? Or a crinoline type ? Or a wide gauge? Thank you for wonderful videos!

Thanks so much.It's in my jacket making videos. It's stiff net, the kind you use to make a 1950s net petticoat. Any large fabric store should have it in the dance/costume fabrics section.

What about a jacket from raw silk?
@PerfectJacket9 ай бұрын
I do have one tweed made from raw silk, it's black and white. It was very difficult to cut but it looks lovely.

I remember in 1994 a Chanel jacket was 1700 British pounds. There was a dark blue tweed jacket I wanted and everyone it was too expensive.
@PerfectJacket10 ай бұрын
Oooh, I love a dark blue Chanel-style jacket. You should make one for yourself. Linton Tweeds usually have a few navy tweeds to choose from and they deliver all over. An expensive jacket isn't really that expensive if you break it down to cost per wear because you wear it for at least a decade.

I have to agree with @diedrabenson361: I love this video too!!! So many ideas to dream about and plan for. Lots of great tips (as always : ) I adore tweed. Great ideas on two different size skirts, lol! Perfect solution. THANK YOU!
