People used to comment that I am living a mediocre life, from being a registered nurse with high paying job to working as an Instrument Technician which gets lower pay than a nurse. I ran out of words rationalizing my decisions. Instead, I showed them that regardless of the kind of job and pay I get, I have more time to enjoy life, more time to enjoy the magnificent view from my apartment, more time to spend with my husband, and more time to watch your vlogs and contemplate on it. 🥰

Shilhi, your comment speaks to me because I'm also a registered nurse typically getting high pay who is looking to do something else that lets me do more of what i want with my time and lets me do more things that give me life... recently quit my last nursing position to take some time to figure things out for myself -- wish I could know more about your journey going as a hard working RN to obviously a position that lets you give yourself some self care 😌

Ah I really can relate to this. I feel so happy and peaceful everyday. I feel fulfilled and loved and creative. A few months my friends asked me what my dream was and I said I was living it. The thing that makes me the happiest is spending time with my family. I am 26, and a stay at home mom and wife to my 2 daughters and husband and I am thrilled to wake up every morning to be with my family. This is the dream for me. We are working on buying a house but it is nothing stressful. We have enough for our needs and a little to save and we focus on one another. Bliss ☺️

This is one of those statements I've let bounce around my skull for an hour or two. I think I function best when doing a mix of challenging activities (taking on difficult/complex work) and mixing in some chill time (cycling, wine, reading, staring into space). I have turbulence when I venture too far into things that would be regarded as superficial (acquiring high tech bikes or cycling gear for example). You have absolutely nailed it when you say we really need to be able to step back at least some time and be happy in the moment/being alive.

You just gave voice to my thoughts in such a perfect, beautiful way. I had never wanted to be consumed by life, chasing one goal after another, trying to prove the world that I'm this overachiever/successful person. I love my family and friends, I live in a beautiful place (and like you said, I know that's a blessing in the first place), and I enjoy my job. I could get a better paying one, maybe something more extravagant or fancier, but I wouldn't want to trade the peaceful, loving environment I've created for me just to fulfill this image that's so popular in the world right now. We discovered it sooner in life, yes, and I'm grateful for that every single day. Thank you Sophie :)

I completely agree with you. It is too easy to get caught up in the mindset that we have to build up to a big moment, such as graduation or getting a job before we can truly step back and live, but what is life here for but to be lived? Ordinary moments are beautiful, and simple joys can be more lasting than the elation at reaching an important milestone. Life is more than just a career and big achievements, and that is too often forgotten in our career-driven society. Instead of waiting for that moment, we should appreciate and cherish every step along the way! Wonderful video as always :)
